Goodbye for now ABC! Thank you for welcoming me with open arms and for allowing me to get a taste of what is involved in working on News Breakfast. I will not miss waking up at 4am but I will miss this amazing experience! Until next time!

I went into this internship not sure how I’d feel at the end. I wasn’t sure if TV was for me but ohh boy was I mistaken. I look forward to continuing my journey as I work towards becoming a journalist.

Day 13 of my ABC News Breakfast Internship! Just like that my internship has come to an end. I’m so grateful for the News Breakfast team for being so welcoming and understanding. I learnt the importance of what happens BTS of every show and can honestly say I’m inspired.

It’s a different feeling being in front of the camera rather then behind but I think it’s so important. I can’t wait to give it another go tomorrow.

Every time I’ve done a PTC I’ve always had to remember what to say, but today I got to read from the autocue. After my first try I can definitely say I need practice, but having a chance to practice and learn from professionals is honestly a dream come true.

Day 12 of my ABC News Breakfast Internship! WOW today I couldn’t contain my excitement, in the lead up to my internship ending I’ve been trying to think of what I could try. Something I’ve been really interested in is practicing my PTC and today I got that chance!

Day 11 of my ABC News Breakfast Internship! Today was such a good day, I was able to find vision, hear live performance and also get advice on a story idea I’ve been thinking of for awhile.

That wasn’t all that happened today. Even got to get some tips regarding cutting vision. I also went into the master control room and sat through the ending of the show and saw what’s involved. Everyone is so happy to answer questions and I’ve learnt so much.

Day 10 of my ABC News Breakfast Internship! I went to the Royal Botanical Gardens for the first time today and had the chance to watch @SciNate in action! It’s great having opportunities like today where I can see what happens outside the studio.

Today those that watched ABC News Breakfast, got their weather updates a little differently today. @SciNate showed me that you can present the weather anywhere, even at a spin class building up a sweat. Journalism is filled with never ending possibilities & I’m constantly in awe.

Day 9 of my ABC News Breakfast Internship! As we welcome the new year I spent the morning in the studio watching @rebsemma & @mjrowland68 present the first News Breakfast Show 2024. I really enjoy seeing the hard work put into such an amazing show.

Everyday I’m at the ABC, it just reconfirms what I hope the rest of my life will look like. I love the fast paced of it all. I love how much I feel like I’m in the right place! It’s also made me even more determined to achieve.

To be able to see how the tech part of the program works is amazing! I really appreciate those in the control room that talked me through what was happening and I felt so comfortable being in there.

Day 8 of my ABC News Breakfast Internship! Today marks the end of my second week interning at ABC! Today I was able to sit in the control room for the duration of the program to see how it works. I’ve always been someone who’s curious of the BTS of things.

We deserve an education as much as anyone else. However, so many out-of-home care young people aren’t finishing school. With only 1% of them going on to study at University. This needs to change!
