In Tennessee I often meet progressives from Republican families who point to college as their awakening. But they say it isn’t the classes, It’s being around students from different backgrounds and learning the truth. Education is UN-indoctrination. That’s why they resent it.

@skeletonsong14 Toss in anxiety, depression, grief and the responsibility for family members with a lot of the same issues and it can become overwhelming at times. Prioritize self care and then allow yourself to focus on your priorities. Asking for help when I need it is the hardest part for me.

@skeletonsong14 I’ve had that exact conversation with myself more times than I can count. Some days are tougher than others. Today for example is really hard. I have to do what I can do and fight to keep the overwhelming amount of things I have left from shutting me down completely.

@skeletonsong14 What I forget is that even though I can function more it is still within the scope of having ADD. I’ve found checklists to help a little and need to remember to give myself grace and space to do things one at a time. I’m not going to suddenly become a type A super organized guy.

@skeletonsong14 At least now a lot of things make sense as to why I can’t just do things I want and need to do. I always felt guilty and faulty for not being able to just do normal tasks like normal people.

@skeletonsong14 I figured out my ADD at age 48 after Amanda’s diagnosis. Meds have definitely helped but I’m still trying to figure out how to function sometimes. I find myself wishing I had known 40 years ago but back then there weren’t good meds or awareness. Still a daily struggle.
