I was talking to a few engineers recently, and almost everyone was asking the same thing in different ways. “How do I grow fast?” Not in terms of salary or title. Just real growth. And I was thinking about it later… the answer is actually a bit uncomfortable. Most of us are waiting. Waiting for a better project. A better manager. A better company. Right timing. Like something outside will come and push our growth forward. But if I look at my own journey, the times I actually grew were very different. It usually happened when I said yes to something I wasn’t fully ready for. When I picked up work that was slightly above my level. When I tried to figure things out without having complete clarity. I wasn’t confident at that time. Honestly, I was a little scared also. But I still went ahead. And that made all the difference. Because growth rarely comes when you feel ready. It comes when you feel a little uncomfortable… and still decide to do it. The tricky part is, nobody forces you to take these steps. You can easily stay in your comfort zone, do your work properly, and things will be fine. Nothing wrong with that. But if you want to grow faster than most people, you have to push yourself a little. Take ownership a bit early. Ask questions even if they feel basic. Try things where you might fail. It won’t feel great in the moment. But that’s usually where the growth is. Even today, I feel this sometimes. So maybe the real question is not “how do I grow fast?” Maybe it’s… what am I avoiding right now because it feels uncomfortable?

Rakesh Bedi is back to limelight due to Dhurandhar but past few years have been very difficult for him. At age of 71, he was struggling to get work and was in dire need of money. Even food and medicine was getting difficult to arrange. Two years ago, Rakesh met a beggar outside a temple. The beggar lift his hand to ask for money. Rakesh looked into his pocket and saw he just had ₹10 note. He gave ₹10 to beggar and started crying because he had nothing left to go back to his house.
