Scotland does not have a single, dedicated "Adult Education Budget" (AEB) equivalent to the English funding model, as adult education is managed differently.

Adult learning often adopts "andragogy" a teaching method recognising adults have prior experience and use their own skills and knowledge to help shape their learning.

Adult learning often involves more flexible delivery—short courses, evening classes, or part-time—to accommodate employment and care duties, whereas traditional FE/HE may have rigid, daytime scheduling, although this is changing.

Learners at our Adult Learning Drop-in group were engrossed in a lovely mindful activity this week… origami ✨🪷 We made masu boxes (with lids) and a lotus flower using careful paper-folding techniques. Great work 👏 #ALNDumfries #LifelongLearning

Just heard most impressive customer support service today. On Glas/Edin train & a young person needed help because mobile phone was due to run out before the connecting train could be joined. The ticket inspector wrote a personal assurance for the next train to verify!👏🏻ScotRail
