@M_Johnston1 Please... What policy did they not like from the conservatives that would negatively effect their riding? What policy did they like from the Liberals that would positively effect their riding? All they said was a bunch of word salad. These were obviously selfish decisions.

@KirkLubimov Pretty standard turn out for a party that isn't going to win in a by-election.

The story of the by-elections was a total COLLAPSE of Conservative voters❗️ University-Rosedale Went from 14,624 to 3,843 Scarborough Southwest Went from 16,652 to 5,300 Terrebonne Went from 10,961 to 1,551 Where did Conservative voters go? This is alarming for the CPC.

The night is young but so far it looks like the polls are correct, at least in Ontario. Huge swing away from the CPC.

@BagelPolling Of course, and the strategy would've been to vote bloc not split between them and LBC. But that didn't happen. Why would a cpc voter vote for both the bloc and the lbc. This is such a weak argument... Yes, yes, yes nuance... That's it..

@SLester48896 Have you ever heard of strategic voting? Have you considered voters are actually complicated individuals who make real choices?

@BagelPolling Like I said she had a conservative platform so unlikely. Also, don't change the goal posts to Terrebonne. The cpc vote collapsed there too and the bloc didn't reap the benefits. Don't tell me you think they would've voted for the LBC in Quebec... That's nonsense. Same pattern.

@SLester48896 Like I said they very likely voted Critchley. Just like in Terrebonne a lot of CPC voters voted for BQ/LPC to stop the other from winning.

@BagelPolling So you're saying when the Liberal vote collapsed in Battle River-Crowfoot by election, that was a HUGE swing away from the Liberals? Because that would be foolish too.

@BagelPolling Ok, if that's what you need to tell yourself. The numbers don't care. I usually agree with your takes, but not here.

@BagelPolling Toronto by-elections (safe Lib): Libs rose +8.4 pts in Scarborough SW & held steady in U-Rosedale, while CPC dropped ~12 pts both times & NDP gained. Same dynamic, flipped colors. Low turnout proves nothing about CPC apathy. Who's coping?

@BagelPolling By-elections in safe seats aren't litmus tests. Battle River-Crowfoot (safe CPC): Poilievre held ~81%, Libs collapsed 11.7% → 4.1%. Critchley (conservative platform) took 9.8% mostly from CPC voters.

@BagelPolling That's cope. Liberal vote didn't shift to Critchley. In the general they got 11.7, in the by-election 4.1%. Even if every Liberal voter went to her, it still wouldn't explain her 9.8%. She mostly took disgruntled CPC votes. The Liberal vote didn't flip, it vanished with turnout.

@BagelPolling Its no different than what happened in the by-election in Battle River-Crowfoot. Pierre got almost the same as the former MP in the general election, while the liberal vote collapsed in the by-election with a much lower turn out. Did you come to the same conclusion then?

"We have a leader in Mark Carney who has captured Canadians’ imaginations with a vision to strengthen Canada’s place in the world. Strengthen our independence. Modernize and green our economy. And make sure Canadian prosperity is expanded and shared. All of that will take building – at a speed and scale not seen in generations." Was a pleasure to address the 2026 Liberal Convention on the final day and tee up a conversation on building big and building faster to build a Canada for all.
