It's Organ and tissue donation week. We work with clinicians to determine whether donation is suitable and safe. We guide bereaved families through the process. These conversations are vital to the donation process but are a reminder of the person behind the donation.

Humans trained to be surgeons, commonly adopt, probably by osmosis, not to express their emotions publicly. However, today, I’m going to burst this bubble. Over the last couple of weeks, we were blessed with the arrival of the most beautiful baby ever, Rose!🌹 In the meantime, sadly, the sun set on our senior beloved cat, Kochisko. I believe it would sound like a cliche, but never imagined with Rose’s first cry, we would be able to fall in love, as fast, and as much! Never also thought my perspective on so many things could change in a heartbeat, but it did! Whilst Kochisko (also known as Boss!), was not just a cat. He was adopted by my wife nearly 10 years ago. He travelled by air, ferry and road from Poland to Edinburgh, when she decided to move after we met. Despite I had no experience with being around pets before, he was a great companion in difficult times. It took him a long time, but I realised that with patience and by only being kind to him, he returned the favour by befriending me. Big life lesson for me. He will be truly missed!
