‘Epstein Class’ refers to rich oligarch men who pal around with pedophiles. It’s a great political shot. Senator Jon Ostoff who brilliantly coined the term is of course Jewish. It’s not anti-Semitic in the least.

This isn't crazy. If there are signs of a white-collar job crunch (cuts and rationalizations in the public sector, reliance on AI and outsourcing in the private), then Lewis has an opportunity in urban ridings the NDP has coveted since at least the Layton era.
David Coletto 🇨🇦@DavidColetto

I’m probably in the minority but I think there’s an audience for Lewis’ message. Maybe not today, but in 12-14 months it will be there. Look what’s happening in other countries like the UK, Germany, Denmark, France etc Eco/AI populism is gaining ground. Canada is not immune to the same forces. #cdnpoli

In 2012 I attended a debate organized by UofC undergraduate students between then Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith and then NDP leader Brian Mason. One thing they completely agreed on (and were heckled about) was that Alberta would benefit from approval of a new pipeline.
Danielle Smith@ABDanielleSmith

This weekend, NDP members elected self-declared “eco-socialist” Avi Lewis @avilewis as their leader. Lewis has called for a full ban on new pipelines and all fossil fuel development, at a time when the world needs Alberta energy more than ever. And while Naheed Nenshi @nenshi may try to distance himself, the Alberta NDP’s own constitution makes clear they are tied to the federal party. The truth is, the Alberta NDP has a long track record of opposing pipelines and energy development. Their extreme views are a danger to jobs and affordability. The UCP will never stop fighting against radical forces, including the Alberta NDP, who want to shut down our economy and keep our resources in the ground.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 The Alberta Electoral Boundaries Commission final majority report is ASTOUNDING. The minority come off as politically-torqued hacks, making illogical, highly partisan recommendations. UGH! #JohnandJulianmandering #ableg #yyccc #yegcc

More light reading: "We are of the view that the minority’s proposed maps violate the principle of procedural fairness, unreasonably apply the statutory considerations, and likely violate s. 3 of the Charter." #JohnandJulianmandering #ableg #yyccc #yegcc abebc.ca/wp-content/upl…

I'm old enough to remember when Avi Lewis sabotaged what was left of Mulcair's 2015 campaign with his ridiculous mid campaign anti-jobs, anti-economy, manifesto. That said, neither Mulcair nor Lewis should have a role in the NDP's future.
Scott Robertson@sarobertsonca

JP: We heard from former NDP leader Tom Mulcair. He said that you know you should be in the House to take on the Liberals if you want to be a viable opposition leader Avi Lewis: Thank you for giving me the opportunity to say that I have no intention of taking advice from Thomas Mulcair

@analisapackham Did you feel the need to ask a question about his approach to spirit identification? Or whether the ice cubes were truly randomly generated?

I know I’ve been to too many academic talks lately because I just found myself nodding while a bartender explained a drink to the guy next to me at the bar

One of the first things we did when we decided Lethbridge West was winnable for the ANDP was put “everyone in Adult Party.” Many of us were all in our 20s and 30s at the time and we had no patience for relegating university students to a debating society.
Fred DeLorey@FredDeLorey

One of the best things that came out of the PC / Reform merger was the end of the youth wing. Instead of being relegated to the sandbox, young people were encouraged to take real roles on EDA boards and National Council - and to run for parliament.

The NDP's federal leadership race has no French-speaking candidates. Does that doom them from the start? Podcast: @TheHerleBurly | Leichnitz & Topp: Is the party over for Canada's NDP? ▶️🔗youtu.be/cfWlBo_-Ju8?si…

The process for Energy East had to be suspended when a TC consultant violated conflict of interest rules. It was then delayed again because TC changed the design. TC then cancelled the project to pursue KXL. Who do we blame? Canada.

@vancolour “Knock it off” was Poilievre’s line during the election last year. Canadians didn’t like it then, don’t know why they would find it compelling now, laundered through the Americans a full year after he lost.

And before you say “They addressed Trump’s 51st State comments!” ☝️…. … yes, and Pierre’s only comment about Trump directly was that it was ‘a crazy thing to say’ and he’d wish the President would ‘knock it off’. Milquetoast, at best.

Pierre Poilievre had a good, albeit forgettable, chat with Joe Rogan. They hit classic JRE tropes (combat sports, lifestyle optimization) but avoided anything controversial or even timely (Trump, the war). It won’t change minds. It wasn’t bad or ‘based’. It just won’t matter.
