We're sad to be suspending the curling season as of Monday when Simcoe Muskoka moves into the red zone. We hope this will be a brief pause to the curling season and that everyone stays healthy & safe in the meantime. Happy holidays from the Stroud Curling Club

We will never forget

We appreciate what the province is doing to protect us. We hope that we provided some clarity to where curling clubs fall. That said it is all up to your local health unit interpretation of the new rules. Good curling and stay safe

After discussion with the local health unit they have given us the go ahead to reopen. They came to the conclusion we wouldn't be restricted until the red zone. Curling falls under OTHER 'rec programs' . The health units are as confused about the wording as everyone else.

@Jaldona @curlinggeek @fit_nut_curl @sgcc1874 Secondly they can print their QR code and scan in without any technology from their end required. Just like a boarding pass with airlines 2 options available. Currently have 84 of 88 open clubs using the application successfully.

@curlinggeek Do you have any data on what clubs are using the @CurlON_ Covid Tracking Ap at their club? I’ve heard of many, but there is a concern from some that with the older demographic it would be difficult #curling

@curlinggeek Barrie curling club has done the same and is closed until further direction from our local health unit. We can't say we are about membership safety and ignore this

Notable: Stroud curling pausing because they are in a Yellow Zone. There are LOTS of clubs in the new Ontario yellow+ zones. If this is a requirement, much of Ontario curling will pause. Yellow requires 3m spacing and "recreation limited to 10 people per room"

@curlinggeek We have been in contact with the town and @CurlON_ we should have an answer tomorrow and hopefully we only lose a few days of curling after clarification on the wording. We built in an extra 2 months at the end of the season for reasons like this.

A lawyer could spot that the 3m restriction might not apply to curling....but finding loopholes is Not The Way. Also, the 10 person restriction per room seems firm.

@NolanG98 @townofinnisfil @ONgov @SMDhealthunit Not until further notice. As far as we understand we fall under the sports and recreation category and therefore can't have anymore than 10 people in the building at a time.

With @townofinnisfil being put into the 'Yellow' zone of the @ONgov new COVID-19 response plan. We will be closed until further notice and await further direction from @SMDhealthunit

@GameofStonesPod @curlinggeek A good amount of our members swear by wipes they got from Amazon.

@STROUDCURLING @curlinggeek What have they found to work best? Every time I head out I tend to hold them in my hand for a minute before putting on as far down nose as possible, not an ideal position for playing

Major update to the #Return2Curl guidelines in BC. Clubs are recommended to make masks on the ice mandatory. 👍

@NanaimoCurling Not 100% sure but possibly... -A lot of hours with the COVID committee. -Relaying our plans to the membership before registration. -Having a well thought out plan that helped the members feel safe returning to the building

@NanaimoCurling Men's league, Choose your own, Friday mixed are all full. Doubles has one full draw and our junior and senior groups are strong as always. Even have some new curlers.

@STROUDCURLING Only a 15% drop in membership! That is impressive. 👍
