DYK empty prescription pill bottles with lids and labels are accepted for recycling year-round at the SWACO Recycling Convenience Center? Get hours of operation and location here ➡️swaco.org/459/Recycling-… This year, empty pill bottles can also be dropped off at the Hilliard, Worthington and Sharon Township Police Departments for recycling on October 25th ONLY as part of Prescription Drug Take Back Day. We're teaming up with a national non-profit, Leveling the Playing Field, Inc. to increase reuse! Through the SWACO Community Waste Reduction Grant, we recently awarded $35,000 to Leveling the Playing Field Ohio to improve the collection of gently used sports equipment and ease the re-distribution of it to schools, youth programs, rec leagues, and community-based organizations serving kids in under-resourced communities in central Ohio. Class is now in session as Joe Lombardi and Hanna Greer-Brown sit down with SWACO's School Programs Administrator, Danna Lotz, to learn more about how SWACO is helping bridge education and sustainability. SWACO is presenting Franklin County schools with free resources such as landfill tours with bus reimbursement, classroom recycling containers through the School Recycling Champions Program, curriculum-aligned lesson plans, and technical support for more complicated waste diversion projects. They are also rolling out a new program called the SWACO Schools Green Team to create a collaborative network where educators can exchange ideas and find support for their sustainability efforts.
