Three-day capacity building training concluded for FMS environmental, social, and GBV specialists on preventing sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEA/SH) in FSRP project implementation.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation of Puntland, in collaboration with the Ministry of Livestock and Animal Husbandry and the FSRP-PL Coordination Unit, convened a validation workshop to review a study on market infrastructure and agricultural and livestock value chains in Puntland. The workshop engaged key stakeholders to examine findings, identify gaps and opportunities, and agree on practical, development-oriented actions to strengthen value chains, enhance productivity, and build sustainable food security and resilience across Puntland.

Puntland’s Ministry of Agriculture/Livestock held a Validation Workshop in Garowe to assess Farmers, Livestock Producer Organizations, and Financial Institutions under the FSRP Project. Key findings will inform strategies to build stronger, more resilient food systems.

This short documentary highlights a major Livestock Treatment Campaign led by the Puntland Ministry of Livestock & Animal Husbandry, targeting more than 300,000 animals across Puntland. Supported by the Somalia Food Systems Resilience Project (FSRP), the campaign played a vital role in improving animal health, protecting livelihoods, and strengthening the resilience of pastoral and agro-pastoral communities. “The campaign started on November 2 and was completed within a 30-day period, reaching 318,098 animals across multiple regions of Puntland” said Mr. Adan Caabi, Director of Animal Health at the Ministry.

Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, along with Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Hon. Mohamed Hayir Maareeye, has laid the foundation for the new National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) building in Mogadishu. This initiative is part of the Somalia Food Systems Resilience Project funded by the World Bank, aims to strengthen food security and sustainability.
