Holy fuck.
We all knew this was coming sooner rather than later. Digital services have been getting the masses comfortable with not really "owning" what you buy for awhile now, but this is straight up insidious. They're testing the waters to see how far they can go.
THIS is why I have always supported and advocated for physical media. It's not just video games either, every company wants you on a subscription for anything and everything so they can continue to milk you forever.
This is downright manipulative, shady and borderline a scam, I'll never tell people what to/not buy, but until this "issue" is resolved I'm not purchasing anything from Sony personally.

You BOUGHT it. → Every new PSN purchase now has a 30-day validation timer → Timer hits zero = game locked → CMOS battery dies = game locked → No internet for a month = game locked → Even FREE demos have the timer now Game bought March 2nd? No timer. Works forever.. Game bought April 24th? Expires May 24th.. They didn't patch a bug. They shipped this on purpose. Digital ownership just died. They didn't even tell you.
