The events of this week have been hard and difficult. Imposing reciprocity at our frontier is something we only do in sorrow and not in anger. But it was a salutory reminder of what's at stake - for all sides - and why, exactly a year ago today, at the last election, you decided to put us back in Government and we won our FOURTH successive General Election with your support. At the United Nations on Monday, I could not have been clearer about our inalienable right to our land, the worthless legal nature of the UN resolutions Spain relies on and our balanced, reasonable offer of non-sovereignty compromises to resolve historic impasses as party of the Treaty negotiations. The ball is now firmly in Spain's court. A deal can now be done for a UK/EU Treaty where we all win, none lose, and ordinary people and workers see their lives improved, not damaged.
