@MEATMAAAAN It’s not unfamiliar to me, it’s wonky. It’s not even necessarily dated. There are plenty of games that came out before it that have far better control schemes. They wanted to bring the feel of their tank controls into an action game, and it didn’t make sense even at the time

This is a visually interesting shot, but it is a bit ridiculous tbh. Like his lens is way too far to the left for him to be seeing out of it. I like the thought, but I think a close shot of his mask with a vignette and his deep sigh would’ve conveyed the same thing

@dmc3lady I know but it's inconsistent. At close range those grabs are hitting you regardless of what you do. Also you still had to parry in that clip because you couldn't run out of way. On professional enemies shrug off most shots that makes the gameplay you're showing impossible.

You can avoid way more stuff then you can think by just moving instead of relying on stagger

@dmc3lady @poplopilopkilop Say you shoot an enemy 4 times and he doesnt stagger, instead running up on you. Theres nothing can do if the ganado takes a swing. Parry is the only way out because his built in movement inertia prevents you getting out in time. Crouches also sometimes dont work for no reason

@sean_gause @UnderTheMayo True. I think you are onto something with that. I do notice that the mixture of how zombies lunge and the momentum holding you back, it makes a perfect balance of me turning my back to dodge, and a zombie lunging twenty miles to get a critical hit while my back is turned

@SanguineRuby @UnderTheMayo It's more about how the RE engine titles keep leaning into momentum, so the characters don't stop walking for a moment and are much harder to turn around quickly. It's more realistic but it feels a lot less responsive.

I think the only things I DISLIKE are the bloom, lack of I-frames in locked animations, and not being able to duck every grab.

@sean_gause @UnderTheMayo I gotta be honest, I never described having my feet nailed to the ground when aiming my gun as “snappy”. I end up loving the remakes combat so much more because of just how much faster Leon feels

@UnderTheMayo You mentioned the combat being a bit exploitable in the OG compared to the remake, but do you prefer the incredibly snappy movement?
I'm not the biggest fan of how the newer RE engine games are making characters feel super weighty in third person.
