Niche as hell, but this is how I explained that there is light at the end of the tunnel and he just needs to hang on and keep going:
You’re back in Florida Phase of Ranger School.
You guys just did the Santa Rosa Island mission.
You were a SAW Gunner and you barely shot any rounds. It wasn’t your fault, the jackass that had the SAW yesterday messed up the blank adapter and didn’t tell anyone.
Now you are doing the long road march back to Camp Rudder.
Your PL is probably going to get a no-go because he failed to reconsolidate ammo - as a result you have 800 rounds of 5.56 link still.
Also, you are carrying a wet rope because the guy that was supposed to be carrying it twisted his ankle on the beach.
You know it all ends at the end of the road march and you’ll be good to go.
What you DON’T need to do is start throwing SAW drums into the ditch on the side of the road, because that will ruin everything you’ve worked hard for over the last few months.
Your back hurts, your feet hurt, you are sweating your ass off, your camo paint is burning your eyes, and sand has found its way in to crevices you didn’t know existed.
But you can see the red light at the top of the water tower at Camp Rudder and it is slowly getting closer.
The Gator Lounge awaits.
They have ice cream.
