So much happens in life, and this has been the craziest five year span for me yet, save the time I spent in the Army. Basically, my point here is just that you've gotta keep moving forward, no matter how bad things are. I knew where I wanted to end up, and I didn't quit.

In March 2026, I live 850+ miles away from all that, have a better apartment, make more money & I'm in a stable relationship. I never thought I'd actually make that move, but it's been the best thing I ever did, even though I came here with almost nothing & went broke doing it.

Five years is crazy. March 21st, 2021 was one of the worst days of my life, I lost a 14 year relationship when my partner ended it abruptly. Things stabilized for a bit, and then in August 2024, my dad died.

I'm not a fan of ICE being deployed to airports to replace TSA, but there guys aren't ICE, and this is fine. Police with rifles are a common sight in transit hubs & high profile locations all over the world. Some countries, like France, even use the military as police.

@Commenceun Agree! Nobody would expect a physical or sexual child abuse victim to take care of their abuser, psychological and emotional abuse isn't any different, and shouldn't be tolerated.

Hot take, but parents who mistreat & disrespect you for your whole life, because of who you are, who you love, or something as stupid as politics, especially if they "cut you off", aren't family. You don't owe them anything. This shouldn't be controversial.
