@Ohlem_ This is one of those things that make retro games have character. Its a pivotal moment in Link's development into a hero!

@DomTechnostate Breaking it up makes it much more enjoyable. I find it the same with reading and "consumption" hobbies. If you are not creating something, the large swathes of time seem wasted. However, we need the consumption mode to drive the creative mode.

@laserutouettal @big_asutaro No it isnt. So many characters are greatly fleshed out/improved in remake (e.g. Jessie + wedge), as is the world building especially when it comes to shinra. While the main cast are equally as charismatic and joyous to watch/play but with more depth and believable camaraderie

@king_of_games34 I had a similar opinion. The game was an great example of a bad open world game. Copy/paste content like textures and objectives with little reward. The world felt hollow and a downgrade from the OG in terms of story changes and multiverse nonsense

I still havent beaten Rebirth because of the sheer amount of bloat in it. Who thought giving an FF game an ubisoft open world was a good idea? Shame because I think this remake trilogy has fantastic combat and adds great characterization for the formerly optional characters.
NinjaDelphox@HereticDelphox

Watching FFVII fans defend the remake bloating one 30 hour game to three 30+ hour games for full price each is so funny I hope Square never does this again and instead makes 3 brand new numbered titles in the 8 years it's taken them to make these shit ass games lol

@frontierism This isn't true if you look at how many cars participated in it and production rates. The change in emissions standards is how they really did it. It favored GMC and is why we do not have small trucks anymore

@RealJohnShepSR1 I could never get into this game. Even on Death March, it was way too easy.

You would like to think that, but here is me killing an archgriffin 35 levels above me on Death March after not touching the game for months by using light attack and quen spam

@UnpluggedRetro They dint exist anymore because they'd use those versions to patch bugs digital store era. The Game of the Year, Greatest Hits, and other variants were how they patched games back then. They dont need to do that anymore with continous delivery of software

You know what I noticed about modern generations of games? There are no longer any more “greatest hits” versions. Game are rarely $30 anymore.

@Sat_Cim @SirBadOpinions Not every box and not everyone knew that. Again, I personally know multiple people who either didn't know that or had family, who didn't realize. Any company who tried that today would be crucified for it

@Sat_Cim @SirBadOpinions They didn't communicate that clearly. Many people purchased video games like Majora's Mask without knowing that they needed to purchase an extra $40 piece for their console. I KNOW people that that happened to. It's literally, exactly the same thing, if not worse.

@LCannon1995 @SirBadOpinions Designing with known hardware constraints and communicating that clearly is vastly different than having to Day 1 patch games from software bugs.

@Sat_Cim @SirBadOpinions You are locked off from the lion's share of a $60 game that you purchased unless either by the expansion pak on its own, an extra $30-40, or purchase another $70 game. If something released with a requirement like that right now, you idiots would a riot.

@LCannon1995 @SirBadOpinions The only other game that required it to boot was Majora's Mask. Every other game could be played without it. Perfect Dark had limited modes available but does not strictly require it to boot as detailed on the back of the original release box

@Sat_Cim @SirBadOpinions That's the only one. It was also required for Majora's Mask, Perfect Dark, and multiple other games that it did not come with. So yes, you had to go out of your way to purchase that expansion pak, either 2nd market or buying a Donkey Kong, even if you didn't want it.

@LCannon1995 @SirBadOpinions It was included in the purchase of DK64, the first game to utilize it. You didn't have to purchase it with the game. It was included for free

@Sat_Cim @SirBadOpinions There's literally no difference, dude. It's actually one of the only times in history that you have to buy an upgrade to your fucking console because of how poorly optimized a game was, lol.

@RaceCarDriver_ @SirBadOpinions Rare's DK64 development committed to using the extra RAM from the expansion pack early in development. Planning to use extra hardware is not the same as having to patch software issues. Majora's Mask also utilized the same extra RAM for its release
