Seeing so many big accounts posting their openclaw wins. > replaced my team > automated my entire workflow > agent did it while i slept cool. but nobody’s posting the API bill. lemme share what’s actually happening: one guy replaced a $1k/month VA. his real spend: → $30–50/day in tokens → 15 hours/week debugging → hardware to run it 24/7 cheaper? maybe eventually. honest about it? never. here’s what eats your tokens silently: when your agent fails and retries 8 times.. you paid for all 8 attempts. not just the one that worked. when it reads your emails to build context.. every token of that email costs money even if the agent does nothing with it. when your prompts aren’t cached.. you’re paying full price for the same context window every single run. most people don’t realize prompt caching exists. it can cut your bill by 90%. most openclaw setups don’t have it enabled. the real math nobody shares is, - light usage: $30–80/month.. - moderate (1-2 agents running daily): $100–300/month - heavy (multiple agents, serious use): $400–1000/month and that’s just API costs. add 20–30 hours a month managing, debugging, maintaining “autonomous” agents. at any reasonable hourly rate.. that’s your real cost. the uncomfortable truth: the people flexing openclaw results are mostly: > developers with expense accounts > funded companies testing at scale > people who stopped using it after the screenshot yes, openclaw works. and kinda eased my life by saving time.. been using it since last few weeks but “look what it built” posts hide the 8 failed attempts, the $80 that day, and the 5 hours of debugging that came before the demo. if you can’t say “this agent saves me $X and costs me $Y” you’re paying for productivity theater.

After about 1 hour of tinkering today I got a working api. My @openclaw bot skill will now scrape real estate listings within 25 mile radius of a zip code for viable rental properties to purchase. Results are also filtered using PQ scores from @retardmode's Peace and Quiet
