@Tereta_Orcmon i find this really funny bc agreeing with anything for the sake of minimizing conflict is the definition of political correctness and something that the Japanese seem to love. You just don’t like western political correctness which is fair but don’t act like you’re so different

昨日、外国人とやり取りしていて、個人的にすっごく納得できた、全部つながったと思うことがあって。 恐らく、日本人は「みんながちょっとずつ我慢すれば社会全体としては上手く機能する。だから『何をどれだけ我慢するか』を明確にするために法律やルールは大事だし、そうして社会の調和を守ることが道徳的」だと考えている。 一方、外国人は「そもそも法律はその時々で改正される以上『正しい』という保証がない。だから、法律やルールを破ることと、自分が道徳的存在かどうかは別問題で、道徳を保証するために宗教が必要」と考えている。 これもうどっちが正しいとかじゃなくて、根本から考え方が違うんだな。 ちょっと単純化したけど、そう考えると、ここ最近の宗教談義、海賊版の問題、日本での迷惑外国人の問題も大体は説明がつくと思う。

Imagine if someone patented a life-saving medicine and then just shelved it

It’s the “rights” to non-physical media and even then just bc ur the owner of a patent doesn’t mean u can revoke access to the public. Imagine if people did that with medicine or something else essential

@hoihoigame @NuniVonBat there’s also the issue of me not being able to read Japanese yet so there’s little point in me buying physical copies of visual novels. For the things that don’t have fan translations i’m learning Japanese but for anything else I buy them properly then use fan translations

@hoihoigame @NuniVonBat I’ve already addressed the point that people only pirate when absolutely necessary. But also I can’t just leave japan with 50 visual novels and 20 figurines which is why I said it’s stupid to suggest I just fly here to do a little shopping
