The U.S. electric grid is America's most critical - and most vulnerable - infrastructure. A single successful attack, whether electromagnetic pulse, cyber, or physical, could collapse everything that depends on it: water, food, medicine, communications, and emergency services. For months. Possibly years. This is not a fringe concern. It is the documented conclusion of the Congressional EMP Commission, national security experts, and decades of research. @SecureTheGrid exists to close that gap — through education, policy advocacy, and public awareness. If you understand the severity of this threat, help us reach more Americans. Like and share our content when you see it. It costs nothing and it genuinely matters. Thank you for helping us protect America's lifeline. centerforsecuritypolicy.org securethegrid.com

It's Time for FERC to Hold NERC Accountable on Grid Security. NERC sets the reliability standards for America's electric grid - but those standards have consistently failed to address the most serious threats we face: EMP, geomagnetic disturbance, physical attack, and cyber intrusion. FERC has the authority to direct NERC to strengthen these protections. It's time they use it. The grid can't wait for another near-miss to become a catastrophe.

The late Dr. Peter Pry- former CIA analyst and Executive Director of the Congressional EMP Commission warned that China has developed super-EMP weapons capable of melting the U.S. power grid with a single high-altitude detonation. Congress created the EMP Commission in 2001. It's 2026 and we still haven't hardened the grid. 25 years of warnings. Zero protection.

This is exactly why the Secure the Grid Coalition exists. Chinese kill switches aren't hypothetical, they've already been found. The FBI and CISA have explicitly confirmed that a Chinese state-sponsored group, Volt Typhoon, spent years secretly embedding disruptive malware directly into U.S. energy and water systems, just waiting for the order to flip the switch. If a foreign adversary can flip a switch and black out America, we don't have a grid. We are a hostage.
Gordon G. Chang@GordonGChang

China, with the flip of a few switches, can shut down America’s grid. We must eliminate this critical vulnerability immediately.

In 2013, Snipers Attacked a U.S. Power Station. No One Was Ever Caught. In 2013, gunmen opened fire on the Metcalf transmission substation in California for 19 minutes. They knocked out 17 transformers. Nobody was caught. Most Americans have never heard of it. The grid is a soft target, and that was proven over a decade ago.

How long could you survive without power? No lights. No water. No phones. No hospitals. No fuel. No food supply chain. The U.S. electric grid makes everything else possible, and right now, it's not protected against the threats that matter most.

Dr. Peter Pry was one of the foremost voices on the EMP threat and dedicated his life to warning this nation about our grid's vulnerabilities. His work with the Congressional EMP Commission remains foundational to everything we do here at STG. The world lost a giant, but his mission continues. Thank you for sharing this.

New grid threat: Russia deploys ‘first strike weapon,’ China ready too. Enemy nations with the weapons “could blackout North America and NATO Europe, and win World War III at the speed of light," said Peter Vincent Pry's report. washex.am/3t3vDLW

Here's long-form critique that is wholly unfamiliar with my work, appears to have completely missed the entire "high-altitude EMP will be treated as a nuclear attack and responded to as such" argument, and equates battlefield-scale anti-electronics like CHAMP with nuke-EMP
