SetUserFTA 2.x will be the last release supporting 32-bit. SetUserFTA 3.x is native x64 only and drops legacy OS support. It’s now in release candidate stage (no ETA yet) and adds AppDefaultHashRotation + more features & optimizations 😎

SetUserFTA v2.7.0 is out! Faster and more reliable with performance improvements and bug fixes. It now detects existing associations and only re-creates them when you use -reapply.

RELEASE: SetUserFTA v2.5.0 is now available. SilentFTA is included as a free add-on for all existing customers. Additionally, it properly handles the UCPD.sys v4.1 bug. The update is available through the download portal.

SetUserFTA v2.4.5 is now available, adding support for the changes in UCPD.sys v4.1. Existing customers can download it from the customer portal.

how has nobody created an open source CLI tool for handling Windows file associations?? SetUserFTA seems to be the only option but it's not OSS & you need to request a quote 🙄

Microsoft has released a new version of UCPD.sys, which impacts the functionality of the licensed edition of SetUserFTA for HTTP, HTTPS, and .PDF associations. An update will be available shortly to address this issue.

SetUserFTA 2.0 can now display the command line associated with a file type, making it significantly easier to troubleshoot issues related to file associations.

UPDATE: ProgIDTool v1.1 is available now. It adds the option to rename and duplicate ProgID's. Download it from kolbi.cz/blog/2024/06/0…

UCPD.sys version 3.0.0 is being distributed through Windows Updates. It added InfDefaultInstall.exe and pwsh.exe to the deny list, thus preventing them from changing the default browser.
