@rowinggeek It’s a mystery how these powerful and important people -presumably with a high level of intelligence? - let this happen to them? Maybe they’re not bright enough to be in those positions in the first place? Or maybe they just think we’re stupid?

I didn’t know I was on Anglesey when I was on Anglesey. I wonder if the experts know where they are. They probably spotted the bridge.

@DomesticDervish @Springborn21 Maybe you will trip whilst holding the plate of croissants, and she can both Save The Day AND get a treat?!

@ShRudd @Springborn21 Sometimes I think Ted is just waiting for the day when the boss falls over or gets stuck in mud and she, Ted, will Save The Day and finally people will listen to her. And she’ll be richly rewarded.

@DomesticDervish @Springborn21 I was about to say -hope springs eternal! 😊

@fenlandflo We’ve removed pews at the back. This gives us some vital social space to hold events that raise funds to keep the church open. Sadly, without this, we’d be closed in a couple of years. These historic buildings are lovely to look at- but the funding model is completely broken.

@PintSizedFarmer Ah!
Shall I pop over with a flask? And an armoured vehicle?

If anyone would like to see a photo of a cat called Gerald taking charge of Saturday morning wheelbarrow duties, this is your lucky day.

@SarahCholwill 2/2…-they just need you in different ways. And their independence is to be celebrated, as it slowly creeps up on you. They never stop needing their mum- and your relationship moves to one of friendship and love-which brings a whole new joy to your life. ❤️

@SarahCholwill So honest Sarah! What a lovely reflection on your life-and your hopes for the future.
Firstly, I hope your fifties will be fun- you finally don’t give a damn about other people opinions of you. I found liberation, freedom and fun.
Secondly, your sons will always need you 1/2

So… this is the last weekend of my 40s. It’s hard to believe, as 40 does not seem that long ago and this has me in a thoughtful and sentimental frame of mind.
In many ways, this has been the most challenging decade of my life and the one in which I have changed the most. There have been some very dark times, mainly with my eldest son, his school journey, and the autistic challenges of puberty—times when I didn’t know how we would survive. But we have reached a place where he is mostly happy, and I have accepted him for all that he is and all that he will—or won’t—be.
Often it has been my youngest son who has got me through the darkest times, simply by being. These days I feel him shifting—ever so slightly, ever so often—towards independence, and I know his path will lead him away from me and onto his own journey without me as a constant companion. That will be tough, for sure, but I am also proud of who he is and who he is becoming.
So as I move into the next decade next week, there are many knowns and many unknowns: letting go gradually of one son but holding close to the other who cannot—yet, or maybe ever—move on in the same way. I will be needed but not needed, free to build a different life but rooted firmly in the existing one. It sounds confusing, but I trust that the path will become clear.
I think age and how we feel about it is often influenced by others. People’s perceptions of how we should be, what we should do, or how we should dress and behave can restrict us. Maybe that’s by design. But I don’t intend to spend my time worrying about any of that. Too much time is wasted on the views of others by far too many of us. If I want to wear a Kermit the Frog cardigan I will!
So… although it’s just a number, it feels momentous somehow—like a turning point, a crossroads, and all those clichés. I feel that this will be the first birthday I will feel fully adult. Who knows what the next decade will bring….. #fourweekbirthday

@parker__farquer I’m always grateful when Mr R remembers who I am, never mind remembering an anniversary.
Anyway, pleased to hear you’ve now recovered enough to resume normal service, after your accident. And Mr Fq must be pleased about your recovery too, from under the patio.
