I think part of why they work is because they're more like an extension of the place itself rather than "oh no watch out for the scary monster, make sure to follow this list of terms and conditions to keep it away."

Still life’s genuinely are the best thing to happen in the Backrooms in general unlike the wiki monsters that are just thrown in there for the sake of being “scary” the still life’s have an actual reasoning and feels like a actual Backrooms monster😭

its gameplay is more comparable to a hazelight game like A Way Out or It Takes Two which does make me understand the no fail state complaints a little bit, but its not bad.
