@WriterHannahBT Under the scraggy tree in the fresh spring grass by the roadside, a goldfinch wrestled with a closed dandelion seed head. This multi coloured Artist’s palette ripped open the seed head and feasted on it’s prize. Thru my binoculars this was a proper David Attenborough moment.

First bird of my day: the chirping sparrows outside my bedroom window, fluffed up in the cold breeze and eyes bright, dedicated to my father on his 80th Birthday, for he is the one who showed me the birds. Happy Birthday Daddy! #firstbirdofmyday #whatsyours

@WriterHannahBT This morning it’s just about the everything. Birdsong all over. Like an infant school playground at playtime. Wherever I am I am amongst birdsong. Pouring through my ears and soaking my brain with music. Soaking wet through with the springtime symphony.

@WriterHannahBT Five cormorants, in Lancaster Bomber formation, pass overhead. All that’s missing is the sound of merlin engines.

@WriterHannahBT The March wind roars, a lesser black backed gull passed overhead and raced away. It wasn’t until I was by the shore that I found my next birds. A gang of redshanks, huddled together at the waters-edge. Maybe twenty birds. Let the wind blow March away, hurry home Spring.

@WriterHannahBT Up above the scaly trunk, amongst the dark green pine leaves, a delicate song, a tinkle with rhythm. A goldcrest is above me. Can hear it, can’t see it. I’m painting it’s fiery yellow, it’s delicate green, it’s needle thin bill, in my mind. It’s song is racing around my soul.

@WriterHannahBT The woodland is still dancing in the aftermath of last nights storm. No bird song reaching my ears but a great tit flashed across my path before the long tailed tit flashed across my path.

@WriterHannahBT Down the track, in the long copse, the wind sways trees with the sound of stormy seas. Amongst this clattering argument a great spotted woodpecker clings to a dead branch and bangs out his drumming. Like a marble in a washing machine the wind smothered drummer beats out his tune.

@WriterHannahBT My singing blackcap crusade left me empty eared. My pursuit continues. However, it was a brand new mallard duckling day. Tiny balls of fluff chasing insects across the flat calm pond. My missus melted after this overload of utter cuteness. Groaning like a rutting stag.

@WriterHannahBT After yesterday’s spectacular string of 44 whooper swans passing over my garden, I am out enjoying my more local birds. Bird song everywhere. Glastonbury by birds. My ears are sucking in the songs and translating them into bird names. Loving the concert.

First bird of my day: starlings chortling on the roof, making all sorts of noises as the gardens across their territory are blooming and spring equinox has arrived. #firstbirdofmyday #whatsyours

@WriterHannahBT Today I’ve been enchanted by long tailed tits. Those music notes of the woods and telephone wires. Upside down, right way up, reaching the very tips of the very tips of delicate tree canopies. Spider fart calls, pretty in pink and the song thrush sings forever.

First bird of my day: a jackdaw walking up a roof with a stick and then diving into what is obviously its home. When I looked around, every roof had a jackdaw carrying a nesting stick and doing similar things. #firstbirdofmyday #whatsyours

@WriterHannahBT I’ve never been and my friend an I have always want to go. London is far away from us and a little scary. We plan to jump on the Hull Train to Kings Cross and get there this year

News: the Natural History Museum is the TOP tourist attraction in the UK. Clearly us humans do like nature but it would be great if that connection (which is fundamental to our own survival) was fully incorporated in how our elected government run the country…
