My latest op-ed: A serious debate on how to make rent control effective while mitigating potential downsides would benefit tenants and the many sectors of the economy for whom high rents are bad for businesses. #canpoli #cndpoli financialpost.com/real-estate/re…

$200 isn’t going to buy you votes or erase the effects of your government’s countless bad policies. You want to help Ontarians? I suggest rent control, affordable groceries, & accessible health care and education to start. Enough with the politicking ploys. #ONPoli

Many of the most effective policies to reduce racial inequities—equitable access to health care, affordable housing, good jobs with fair wages—will benefit all working class British Columbians. Great work from my colleagues on scapegoating in the BC elxn policynote.ca/racial-equity/

Important new research out last week. We have not had data on unionization of racialized workers in Canada since 2011. This analysis uses new(ish) @StatCan_eng labour force survey data.
Jim Stanford@JimboStanford

Pls check out the full report by Winnie Ng, Salmaan Khan & me: centreforfuturework.ca/2024/08/13/the…. Black & racialized workers NEED unions to help reduce the 10% gap they face in avg hourly wages. But their union coverage is lower (25% vs 33% for non-racialized) for many reasons we explore.

I spoke to @Martin_Lukacs for @TheBreachMedia on anti-immigrant backlash, the bipartisan project to exploit migrant labour, and why anti-racism is the only way to stop all workers from getting divided and ruled. Listen wherever you get podcasts. podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-b…
