Mr. A ended the year 2025 lamenting and feeling useless for not achieving anything tangible.
Mr. B ended the year 2025 knowing that he has not achieved anything tangible, but has put in place structures and strategies to make him better in 2026 instead of lamenting or feeling useless.
Both men have experienced the same event, but responded differently.
One of them becomes a better person at the end of 2026, another of them ends 2026 still feeling useless.
Miss A gets rejected in an interview for a job she has desired so much and she goes home, spends the whole week sulking and condemning herself to be a failure.
Miss B also gets rejected in an interview for a job she has desired so much but goes home after collecting feedback on why she was rejected and then adds the reason why she was rejected to the list of things she needs to work on and get it worked on before the next interview for another job.
One of these women treats rejection as the end of their lives, another treats it as positive criticism, and as an advantage that she can wield at the next interview she faces.
Both stories have the same event but the response by each party differed hence we have a different result.
This is the golden rule:
Event + Response = Outcome
Let’s break this down.
You do not have power over the event. You can't change it.
But you have 100% control over your response.
Your response determines your outcome.
Generic response yields Generic outcome (nobody notices you).
Valuable response yields Valuable outcome (people click your profile).
Two people can experience the same event but have opposing outcomes just because one dared to be different.
One refused to be stepped on when they fell and that person can be you.
We like to think that outcomes are random, because the events were random.
The earlier you choose to dare to respond differently, the better for you.
Respond differently this year!
The outcome isn't random. It's a direct result of the response!
Stop blaming the events. Stop waiting for the "right time."
You can't control the events in your life.
But you control your response to everything.
And your response determines your outcome.
Change your response, change your outcome.
That's it. That's the rule.
Have a happy weekend. 🤎🥂
