I've read a lot of speculation on Leo XIV's intentions. My only comment is this: if he doesn't reverse the damaging legislation & policies of his predecessor (e.g. "Cor orans", "Traditionis custodes" & the Sino-Vatican Accord) you have the measure of the man.

I’m grateful for any attempt to spell out what’s lurking at the back of Cardinal Roche’s mind — since apparently it is so important that the pastoral lives of tens of thousands of Catholics has to be eviscerated for its sake. But what we get is a word salad that confuses trads with the ‘conservative’ guys who tried to crush them in the 1980s.
Mónica Uribe@leire1966

Simple. Traditional Mass is just a leit motiv for rad trads, their real agenda is to get back the most conservative bias of JPII pontificate which are the core of a new kind of ultramonanism, just to defend themselves of "modernism", thus denying the right of internal diversity.

.@sandrafretsmith. I am sorry to have to inform you that there is no 'extra hour of daylight in the evening'. It does not exist. the amount of daylight is exactly the same. You have just got up earlier, and so started and finished work earlier. I wish you would do this without supporting laws which force me to do the same.
Sandra 🍃💚🍃@SandraFretSmith

@ClarkeMicah Clocks are but a human invention to measure time. For the likes of us lazy gits like myself that go to bed late & so get up late an extra hour of daylight in the evening is a great bonus. Each to their own as the saying goes. It's a trivial matter through the course of the year.

The Aramaic Wire ܣܘܪܝܐ
We are getting an insane level of interest in our posts on Aramaic. People keep asking. Why does Aramaic matter? I have a simple answer. Because Aramaic is the language of the MARTYRS. Over and over, those who have safeguarded this language became martyrs for Christ. Let me tell you one simple story, one of hundreds. About the man who compiled the first modern Aramaic dictionary, who the Turks brutally killed in 1915. Bishop Thomas Audo was the Chaldean Archbishop of Urmia who spent his life compiling the first dictionary of the modern Syriac Aramaic. During the height of the Assyrian genocide, Turks advanced on Urmia. Over 80,000 of his flock fled, but Bishop Audo stayed in Urmia at a French Mission. He was stripped naked & marched through the streets. A Persian from the village of Balar entered the Mission demanding money & shot the Bishop through his cheek. Kurdish soldiers soon arrived & began tearing the beards of priests from their faces. Audo was taken to the American hospital where he was beaten again by Turkish soldiers, until he died from blood poisoning. When we protect Aramaic, when we preserve it, we preserve the memory of martyrs like Bishop Audo. That's why Aramaic matters.

Daniel Hannan: 'No one asks for reparations from, say, China (which did not abolish slavery until 1910) or Ethiopia (1942) or Saudi Arabia (1962), because these countries do not encourage the shake-down artists.' 'The resolution was moved by Ghana on behalf of the African Union, which has indicated that it intends to pursue Britain and various European countries through the courts. China, Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia were among the states that backed the motion. So, shamelessly, were North Korea, Eritrea and Mauritania, the three places where slavery is most prevalent today.' Britain should slap sanctions on any country demanding slavery reparations telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/03/2…

🇬🇧 When he died in Africa, his servants cut out his heart. And buried it under a tree. Because he belonged to Africa. David Livingstone was born in a one-room tenement in Blantyre, Scotland. He started working in a cotton mill at ten years old. He propped books up on the loom while he worked. He put himself through medical school. He went to Africa as a doctor. And he saw something he recognised. The Arab slave trade. 80,000 people taken every year. He had grown up knowing what exploitation looked like. He couldn't unknow it. He walked thousands of miles to document it. On 15 July 1871, Arab traders opened fire on a packed marketplace at Nyangwe. 300 people killed. Livingstone wrote in his journal: "It gave me the impression of being in Hell." He died on 1 May 1873. Alone in a hut in Zambia. On his knees in prayer. His servants Chuma and Susi cut out his heart and buried it under a tree. Then carried his body 1,000 miles over nine months through hostile territory. So Britain could have him back. Weeks after the news reached Zanzibar, the Sultan signed the Frere Treaty. The largest remaining slave market in the world closed. Forever. An Anglican cathedral now stands on the exact spot. The altar is built over the whipping post. His body is in Westminster Abbey. The inscription reads: Brought by faithful hands over land and sea. We are trying to do the same thing. And because of our community... We are doing it.🙏 Be Part Of Us: 👉proudofus.co.uk/support 👈 Be Proud Of Us. 🇬🇧

‘Dark winter evenings depress me’, say the clock-fiddlers. How dim can you get? They remind me of the old woman who, in the days of the USSR, lived on the frontier between the Soviet Union and Poland. When the boundary rectification commission came by, they told her ‘Your house is exactly on the new revised border. We really don’t mind whether you stay in Poland or the USSR, so it’s up to you.’ She thought for a moment and said ‘I’d rather be in Poland’. When they asked her why, she said : ‘I can’t stand those long Russian winters’. Look , dear. The evenings *are* dark in winter. Fiddling with the clocks does not alter that.

When you think it can’t get any worse… Canada is now trying to euthanise people for BACK PAIN. Miriam Lancaster visited the emergency room after waking up one morning with a sore back. The doctor’s first suggestion: Euthanasia. She had no long-term health issues. They hadn’t even examined her back. And they were already offering to kill her. You heard that right. In Miriam’s own words: “I went to the Vancouver General Hospital and I was approached by a young lady doctor whose very first words out of her mouth were, ‘We would like to offer you MAiD.’” “I was taken aback. That was the last thing on my mind. I just wanted to find out why I was in pain. I did not want to die.” Canada’s MAiD program was initially sold as a compassionate last resort for the terminally ill. A narrow “last resort” for those who were terminally ill, in immeasurable pain. And unable to maintain a basic quality of life. But that was never the reality. Euthanasia is state-sanctioned organ harvesting and legalised murder. A healthy 84-year-old woman with no history of illness shows up in the ER with a bad back… and the very first offer is a lethal injection. No tests. No investigations. No other options. Just “we think you should die.” Miriam, thankfully, refused. She spent a month in the hospital healing from a spinal fracture and made a full recovery. She has since even climbed a volcano and went on international hiking trips. But her story is just one of thousands, and too many like her have bowed down to the pressure of the medical “professionals” who are supposed to save and protect them. How many others weren’t given that chance? How many were worn down, pressured, or simply told this was their only option? We just saw the coercion, murder, and organ harvest of Noelia Castillo Ramos by the Spanish state. Who was stolen from her parents, gang-raped, traumatised so badly she tried to end her life, then left paraplegic. Doctors coerced her into agreeing to die. Then, when she started having second thoughts, they told her that her organs had already been “reserved.” They stopped her bed friend from seeing her on the day she was killed because they worried she’s change Noelia’s mind. In Belgium, children are being granted the ‘dignity’ to die before they’re even old enough to sign a legal contract. Paralympic athletes who simply asked for a mobility aid have had their doctor suggest euthanasia instead. We are told that assisted dying is dignified. That liberalisation is inevitable. That this is the evolution of a ‘free’ society. But where is the freedom in a society which pressures the vulnerable to die against their will? Where is the dignity in treating our fellow humans like produce on a shelf, to be discarded once they pass their ‘Best Before’ date? This was always the plan. Turn medicine into a kill switch for anyone who costs too much or complains too loud. If they’ll float MAiD to an 84-year-old with a fixable back injury in the ER, imagine what they’re whispering to the depressed, the disabled, the lonely, or the broke. Never let them talk you into believing your life is the problem. Or that death is the solution. Fight for your life. Because this isn’t healthcare. It’s a cull. And it’s accelerating.

St. Augustine: “Justice being taken away, then, what are kingdoms but great robberies? For what are robberies themselves, but little kingdoms?...Indeed, that was an apt and true reply which was given to Alexander the Great by a pirate who had been seized. For when that king had asked the man what he meant by keeping hostile possession of the sea, he answered with bold pride, ‘What you mean by seizing the whole earth; but because I do it with a petty ship, I am called a robber, while you who does it with a great fleet are styled emperor’” (The City of God, Book IV, Chapter 4)

Beautiful. The ultimate legacy of the reformation on European countries now dominated by Protestantism was the destruction of culture. Even in Ireland, where Protestantism was rejected by the people, everything was destroyed since the reformers took everything by violent repression.

The most common torture inflicted by the Muslims during the Ottoman period was whipping. The usual victims were the Christians. It was the introductory torment in every other torture, so common in the persecutions of Christians that the phrase became proverbial: "I will whip you until you change your faith." The victim was tied with exposed back, their clothes torn, and the whipping began. The executioners were usually Turkish soldiers with robust physiques, so that the blows were both critical and powerful. The number of blows was either predetermined by the court or (most of the time) left to the discretion of the executioners. Muslim judges (qadis) observed the torture. If the victim showed that they could not endure the completion of the number of blows and their life was in immediate danger, then the judge placed the Quran under the executioner's armpit. Unable to raise his arm high (since the holy text must not fall to the ground), he delivered the remaining blows with less intensity. After the whipping, the victim was often left helpless without care, or thrown into prison. In most cases, permanent disabilities remained on the body. Also, one of the harshest tortures of the Ottoman Muslims was impalement. Crowds surrounded the victim and mocked them, suggesting they convert to Islam and insulting their faith, family, and nationality. The stakes were set up in a specific area, usually in the village or town square. The victim was dragged there in public humiliation, as usual. After being severely whipped, their clothes were torn, their hands were tied tightly behind their back, and they were "seated" on the stake. Then weights were hung on their legs so that they would slide down and be skewered on the stake. In many cases, the sadism did not end with skewering the victim. The spit (with the victim on it) was placed horizontally over a fire or burning coals, and the victim was roasted alive like a lamb. The fearsome and terrible Ali Pasha of Ioannina was famous for slowly roasting his victims, thinning the coals under them to prolong the agony and the entertainment of himself and his entourage. In many cases, he forced relatives to torture and kill their own kin to avoid impalement and roasting themselves. I have an interesting story to tell you on my next post. Stay tuned. I know what you are thinking. The religion of peace.

During the Ottoman period, Muslims enjoyed performing all kinds of mutilations. Ears, noses, lips, tongues, breasts, and genitals were primarily cut off. Not just those, though. Let's recall here the Saint Raphael of Mytilene, who was hanged from a tree and had his lower jaw cut off, while the twelve-year-old martyr Irene was roasted in a barrel on the Tuesday of Easter in the year 1463, ten years after the fall of Constantinople. In many cases, the severed body parts "adorned" the warrior collection of the janissary. The pashas gave bakshish (tips) to every "brave" Muslim warrior according to how many ears of "infidel" Christians he brought back. He himself confirmed his bravery and "manliness" among his peers by having a "komboloi" (worry beads) made from the nipples of breasts he had cut off from women. The bravest man was the one with the longest komboloi after a massacre and looting. Blinding with various sharp objects was also common. This was particularly frequent during periods of massacres and atrocities. Many unfortunate Christians remained blind for the rest of their lives because they had the misfortune of a horde of janissaries passing through their land. The Egyptians under Ibrahim Pasha were especially notorious for this crime. Many times Christian captives were placed in front of cannons that were fired, turning them into human shreds of flesh. In other cases, they were tied to galleys that sailed in opposite directions and were torn apart. Dismemberment of victims also occurred with horses. Indeed, Islam is the religion of peace.
