All that investment and it’s still an outdoor stadium. A retractable roof would have turned it into a true year-round venue for Western New York. It could host concerts, major events, college basketball regionals and Final Fours, even a Super Bowl someday, while still keeping the outdoor football atmosphere by simply opening the roof on game days. The weather identity stays, but the city gains flexibility, tourism, and revenue far beyond eight or nine home games a year. It just feels like a missed opportunity to maximize what this project could have meant for Buffalo and the region.
