Does your spring cleaning include parting with household items? Consider donation opportunities to divert unnecessary waste from landfills. Gently used clothing, kitchenware, books, and furniture are all great options. Find best practices and requirements through your local donation center’s website.

Careers in public service combine passion and purpose! #SnoCoPW and Surface Water Management (SWM) joined forces again this year at the 2026 Expanding Your Horizons Conference at Edmonds College. Many thanks to the event organizers and all the visiting high school students who brought eager minds and busy hands! Together, we enhanced stream habitat around 3-D printed culverts and studied aquatic life under microscopes to determine stream health. We are inspired by tomorrow’s leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math! #WomenInSTEM #FutureLeaders

The 84th St NE Corridor Spot Improvements project is expected to kick off June 1. The four-plus mile corridor between SR 9 and SR 92 is one of the busiest routes in the county with more than14,000 average daily trips taking place. Motorists can expect to see crews along the corridor installing centerline rumble strips, new wide edge line striping, radar feedback speed limit signs, intersection ahead warning signs, upgraded street name signs, and more. Single lane closures will be utilized during the day. Drivers should expect intermittent delays throughout the summer. For more info, visit the project page at bit.ly/84thStNESpotIm….

Hey @snocounty - the signal at 136th St NE and 34th Ave NE is acting funny. Random phase changes. Light changes after 3-4 cars go through. Just wanted to give the heads up.

Have you ever wondered where your garbage goes? Over 800,000 tons of material was processed by Snohomish County Solid Waste last year. Containers are transported by heavy trucks from our facilities to the Everett intermodal yard before traveling via train to the Roosevelt Regional Landfill in Klickitat County. Empty containers are transported back to our facilities where the process continues to meet the waste disposal needs of our communities.

#SnoCoPW geotechnical engineers and geologists continue to monitor landslide risks along Reiter Rd following persistent rainfall during March. The active slope failure in this historically slide-prone area is bringing soil and debris onto the roadway and poses a safety risk to traffic. A full road closure between Deer Flats Rd and mile post 5.6 remains in effect as the team monitors the active failure and coordinates how to safely mitigate the slide.

New and improved! Millions of pounds of trash were scraped along the concrete by busy machinery weighing more than 25 tons seven days a week since 2017 at the Airport Road Recycling and Transfer Station (ARTS). What resulted were scrapes, gouges, and uneven flooring. The new floor overlay is comprised of a high-performance polymer cement mix with artificial aggregates that should outperform its previous version. Come and see what all the excitement is about at ARTS when it reopens for business Monday, March 29. Facility info: bit.ly/SnoCoSW
