Okay - so turns out the wind is pretty strong in NYC today.

@leenyburger this can be extended to multiplying any two numbers that are the same distance from some number, e.g. 13 * 17 = 15^2 - 2^2 = 225 - 4 = 221

@leenyburger my dad had me memorize perfect squares through 20, and taught me a trick for these kinds of questions. since x^2 - y^2 = (x-y)(x+y), a problem like this becomes (13-1)(13+1) = 13^2 - 1 = 169 - 1 = 168

So I was hit head-on by a car about a week ago In LA at Kubecon. Lots of broken face bones and such but it looks like I'll mostly recover; very grateful to be alive. I'll mostly be resting up for the near future so I can make it to CascadiaJS and RubyConf next month.
