9 PLATOON WINS BATTLE OF INTELLECT AND ELOQUENCE IN MIND THE GAP DEBATE Corps Members of the 2025 Batch "B" Stream II at the NYSC Waye Orientation Camp participated in the Mind the Gap Nationwide Inter-Platoon Debate Competition with the theme: "Problem-Solving Mentality, Skills, and Culture: A Proven Strategy for Personal Leadership and National Development." The event took place at the Multipurpose Hall of the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp, Jos, attracting wide participation and admiration. NYSC Plateau State Coordinator, Mr. Jonathan I. Yavala, urged participants to cultivate a mindset geared toward innovation, leadership, and national growth. In his opening remarks. Mr. Oluwaseyi Kelechi, Community Manager of Mind The Gap, announced plans to engage 80 Corps Members in a rural literacy programme, complete with training, stipends, and paid courses. He further stated, "If you want to reach and teach Nigeria, reach NYSC." Representatives from Platoons 1 through to 10 delivered compelling arguments, demonstrating deep understanding of the theme showing creativity, innovation, and leadership as drivers of national transformation. Platoon 9 emerged the overall winner, with Platoon 7 and Platoon 8 taking second and third positions, respectively. All participants received Certificates of Participation, recognizing their efforts, eloquence, and commitment to intellectual excellence. Dignitaries, including Camp Director Mr. Peter Achigili and Monitoring Officer Mrs. Chinyere Ukeche, commended the participants for their outstanding performances.
