Villa is our 11th match in 36 days. Roughly a match every 3 days; the same players slogging it out, travelling up and down the country (plus Hoffenheim) and we say they’re not trying hard enough. Let’s be honest we don’t even understand the mental and physical exhaustion.

@bright_eyes3000 He was a player that I always thought was capable of more. His work rate and involvement was shocking for a player of his ability.

@Spurs2Bob Yeah not a world beater by any means but I remember a strong spell under Pochettino in his first year when everything came together and he helped us progress. Solid not spectacular

@Spurs2Bob Have to stop considering Spence as a LB We've seen how much difference merely a left footer can make. Even if Juve bid, think it will be a really underwhelming one don't think it's worth it to sell Udogie for €20 mil or something

At the right price I’d sell and reinvest in a RB. Robertson, Spence and VDV are good enough left sided options.

Sorry to be that person, but £40m for a player with a year left on his contract and desperate for a reunion with RDZ is criminal. Surely the sensible play would be to wait for January and get him at a cut price or freebie next summer. We’re not short on CB cover + no Europe.

I don’t want fans telling me “it’s not your money, why do you care” - I care because we have a war chest of £225m and I don’t want £70m (32%) to go on Van Hecke.

I’m extremely happy about this signing. Adding much needed experience and depth to the squad. When was the last time we made this kind of signing? Do the same thing, get the same result!

To defend people that are concerned about overpaying and getting told "it's not your money!" - yes...obviously not. The issue with overpaying needlessly is that our budget is finite - the more you spend, the less there is to go towards other targets. We should absolutely be

@bright_eyes3000 Improvement in defensive quality imo.

Van Hecke is an upgrade on Romero when you consider his availability. Yes he’s a slight drop in defensive quality, but he’s not far off in terms of ball playing. The fact he won’t miss half our games is huge. Availability and consistency is key

@TotalSpursTV It’s obviously not my decision mate. I’m giving an opinion and I care about us spending poorly, just as we’ve done in the past. Just like I didn’t want us to sign Richarlison, Porro, Odobert, Vicario, Tel and others that have been extremely underwhelming.

@Spurs2Bob its not your decision though? this is what i dont get with some of you fans..ITS NOT ABOUT YOU....you dont influence transfers nor do you dictate. Fees are spread over multiple years anyway so its not the large lumpsum being deducted right away anyway? my god man.
