@ashley_cubillos @ABsteward I used that study to convince my orthos to stop looking at urine, period. I agree, the patients are maybe not good hosts, but urine bug and SSI bug were not the same.

@ABsteward The last time I remember reading an article to this effect, the organism in the urine had little to do with the organism in the SSI. Debilitated hosts at higher risk of both conditions??

It was back in the "day" and I sort of wonder if the PMMA of a decade ago was different. But, I've definitely seen detectable levels in the more recent past.

@BradSpellberg @ABsteward Same here. When you frame the education around the result having nothing to do with bacterial vs. viral, but a very safe exit ramp to hold abx, I think it works rather well.

@ABsteward So I've been monitoring all this procal hate and keeping my powder dry. But there are numerous concordant RCTs demonstrating its benefit, and that's true of virtually no other diagnostic test period. We find it exceptionally useful as a psychological tool to help teams stop abx.

@shermanelis Hi! Mom of a non-sleeper. He's almost 8 and it's better. But OMG, i've been ice fishing in the dark at 4 in the morning, playing in the snow at 10pm, jumping on the tramp for 2 hours BEFORE school, and driven countless hours just to get him to stop moving. Sorry, hang in there.

I really need to talk to other parents w/ toddlers who hardly ever slept, who had to FIGHT and wrestle to get even a 40 minute nap, who dreaded bedtime because it was always an epic struggle. Because I am at my wits end here folks (this is not a post asking for advice)
