Stepgates School

On the week of the 26th January 2026, our Themed Week began with Stepgates being transformed into an airport and airplane. The children excitedly moved through security, collecting their boarding cards and passports, before boarding flight SG067.

On Thursday 9th May we celebrated the 80th Anniversary of VE Day with our very own ’Street Party’. It was a glorious day which all the children and staff thoroughly enjoyed.

This year’s duck project, supplied by Incredible Eggs, has been a successful and fantastic project. All of the children in school have treasured seeing the birds, from eggs in incubators to fluffy, inquisitive ducklings, both in class and on live-webcams.

Ladybirds had a wonderful excursion to Chertsey Museum to learn about the Olden Days, as part of their new topic. The children loved exploring the rooms, dressing up in vintage clothing, and interacting with toys and objects from the past. It was a lot of fun!

Science Week at Stepgates started with a BANG and a FIZZ! Children were 'blown away' by our Science Lead Mrs Brough's mesmerising experiments! Stepgates staff entered into the theme with incredible costumes. Einstein would have been very jealous!

Children of Stepgates created Pudsey the Bear with the monies collected for Children in Need Mufti Day!

On 11th November, to kick start Anti Bullying week, children wore odd socks to celebrate that we are all different and unique. This year's theme is 'Choose Respect', with many events taking place throughout the week and a Mufti Day today, supporting the charity, Children in Need.

We are delighted to announce... *drum roll* Stepgates won the top prize of BEST FLOAT at the Black Cherry Fair! A huge thank you to our incredible Friends of Stepgates School (FOSS) Team and to all who supported Stepgates!

Stepgates Summer Fair will be on Friday 21st June! Come along and enjoy a lovely afternoon with your family and friends!

Our butterflies have fully grown, and have 'flown the nest'! Seeing them grow from tiny caterpillars to fully formed adult butterflies has been exciting, and has created a starting point for lots of cross-curricular learning for all age groups.🦋

Children are very excited to watch their tiny caterpillars expand each day, and have created some superb learning from diary writing to measuring, data collecting to artwork. We cannot wait for metamorphosis to happen, and see our butterflies emerge before we release them!

Every child at Stepgates was given a plain t-shirt by Friends of Stepgates School (FOSS) to create their own World Book Day designs! Check out how amazing they look! 📷
