A big thanks to my team for mainstreeting in Barrhaven with me today to hear residents' thoughts on housing, transit, the state of city services and more.
Ottawa is at a breaking point on housing, and people feel it in their day-to-day lives.
In my latest Substack post, I talk about how we can build affordable housing that works.

Stephen Lewis was an incredible human.
As an NDP leader, as a global advocate to fight HIV and AIDS, and as Canada’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Stephen always put people first.
His wife Michele and his whole family are in my thoughts today.
Today, I join Canadians in mourning the loss of Stephen Lewis — a pillar of compassionate leadership in Canadian democracy, and a renowned global champion for human rights and multilateralism.
I am keeping his family, and all those whose lives he touched, in my thoughts.

I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Stephen Lewis. The Ontario NDP caucus and New Democrats across the province are mourning the loss of a principled and exceptional political voice.
Stephen was a giant in our movement. He fought tirelessly to level the playing field for working class Canadians and take on inequality head on. For me, Stephen was a trusted advisor, and a sounding board who was generous with his time, kindness, and wisdom.
As Leader of the Ontario NDP and MPP for Scarborough West (now Scarborough Southwest), Stephen helped bring rent control to Ontario and helped to win a key battle during the landmark 1974 Elliot Lake miners' strike, with his support for the striking workers leading to the creation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. He’d go on to help form Ontario's first NDP Official Opposition.
Stephen showed us what it meant to fight with everything you have for what you believe in. He brought that passion and drive to his work as Canada’s Ambassador to the United Nations and then to his extraordinary leadership as the UN Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa, convincing leaders around the world of their responsibility to take action on the crisis.
To Stephen's beloved wife Michele Landsberg, to Avi, Ilana, and Jenny, to his siblings Michael, Janet, and Nina, and to everyone who knew and loved him: we share in your grief. We will carry him forward in everything we do.
I was sad to hear of the death of Stephen Lewis, who spent many decades serving the people of Ontario and Canada, including during his time as leader of the Ontario New Democratic Party.
My sincere condolences go out to his family and loved ones.

I am deeply saddened by the tragic accident at LaGuardia Airport involving an Air Canada Express aircraft arriving from Montréal.
My thoughts are with the families, loved ones, and colleagues of those who lost their lives, as well as all those who were injured.
Canada is working closely with U.S. authorities as they investigate this incident, and we are following developments closely. Aviation safety remains our highest priority.
Our deepest condolences go to the families and friends of the Jazz crew of Air Canada Express flight AC8646 on March 22.

In 1985, Robert Bourassa’s Liberals won a decisive majority with 99 seats, even though he personally lost his own seat in Bertrand.
It remains the largest parliamentary majority in Canadian history, where the winning leader did not win their own riding.
