Stop getting the music confused with the machine behind it. Just because the main stream failed their responsibility behind some artist, doesn’t mean the catalogues not there for an artist to hold their own. Regardless who wins…Sonically, unless you’re familiar enough with Ciara’s TRUE catalog and discography; I don’t think she can be put in a proper Versuz. Because the bias is unfair and has been for well over a decade. Hits only hit when they allowed to be. Ci had to fight since the beginning to even keep her hits.

@StephonAmir It literally makes 0 sense to run to numbers. Rihanna has outsold dam near EVERY female artist DOA. We know this, but to say that her catalog would clear a lot of those same females including (Mary J, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson) etc is INSANITY. Quality not Quantity.

Versuz also puts equal or same caliber artists together. You’re going to have folks in Cambodia in the chat. You won’t just have ClayCo strong in a private room.

1st album. 1st single. “Goodies” Written by Ciara. Label tried to take it for Britney. Second album, her and polo had to leak promise on their own- no initial label support. Third album, “go girl” and “never ever.” we’re NOT singles pick by Ciara. After this album most of Ciara momentum was self funded . Leading to a series of label hops, and once again having to bet on self. “level up” 1st indie release almost 3x plat. After multiple passes. Be real… no other female that we’re discussing had to deal with this level of disbelief.

For sure she has had her fair share of struggles, As someone else brought to the table. Her consistency from albums Rated R, Loud , Talk, & Unapologetic can’t be dismissed . Her momentum was completely uninterrupted from 2k10-12 with tours in-between. That consistency has to be taken into account when comparing . Thanks for your addition.

@StephonAmir Rih had struggles too. Def jam wanted to drop her azz up until loud. She used money from brand deals to fund Mv’s. But I guess rih knew how to take control of her situation meanwhile Ciara just waited for others to decide for her… until it was too late.

@StephonAmir Never Ever had to be redone to sound like Promise and the orignal version was faster/mid/up tempo as she alluded to from interviews as the execs wanted it to be a more familiar sound. I wonder if @PolowDaDon will leak that version like he did for Hot Tottie 🔥

The best way I can explain my perspective is if we’re talking numbers and stats then yes Ri cleans rounds. & She’s earned it. But if we’re talking relatable era defining impact, and nostalgic culture, & movement Staples Ci . Wins rounds. Which is what Versuz is judged on. Not stats. It wouldn’t be a clear sweep. Period.
