This afternoon our Chairman Cllr Peter Harris made the Proclamation for the District of Tendring, announcing the accession of King Charles III to our area.

Before the Proclamation, Cllr Harris along with our Leader Cllr Neil Stock OBE, Chief Executive Ian Davidson, and Deputy Lieutenant Nigel Spencer MBE, laid flowers in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II

The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.

🤝 The Queen received Liz Truss at Balmoral Castle today. Her Majesty asked her to form a new Administration. Ms. Truss accepted Her Majesty's offer and was appointed Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury.

I have been deeply touched and overwhelmed by the number of messages I have been receiving since Christopher’s sudden death from presumed cardiac arrest on 28 of July. Christopher would have been chuffed, surprised and greatly moved. His family and I would like to thank you

@willquince @Essex_CC @yourcolchester Will is spot on to call for the unique character of Crouch Street West to be protected; it is one of the finest shopping streets in East Anglia (if not the whole country). I am myself a very keen cyclist, but cycling needs cannot trump everything!!

I'm all for cycling and public realm investment in Colchester city centre but it's vital that we maintain the unique character of destinations like Crouch Street West. I have asked Cllr Lee Scott to hit the pause button and address the concerns of local residents and businesses.
