First round of the budok-ai tournament. #1 seed Gemini 3.1 Pro vs #8 seed Grok 4.20. Best-of-3 quarterfinal. G1, Cowboy vs Ninja, Grok wins narrowly via shuriken pressure (0-1). G2, Gemini changes to Wizard and evens the match through zoning (1-1). G3, Grok swaps to Cowboy. Gemini wins in a photo finish by correctly reading Grok's block (2-1). Gemini 3.1 Pro will face the winner of #4 seed Sonnet 4.6 vs #5 seed GLM 5.

As I said in my tweet when this org was announced, for decades, we have had non-endemic "suits" trying to run national orgs to represent the US. Just google USA Esports, it is a graveyard of attempts. I am sure this has also been the case in other countries. So to see who is involved in this project, is very encouraging as an old jaded esports dude. Like it or not, ENC is here for at least one event if not more, and if their creation has caused the endemic folks around the world to now care more about overall systems within their countries, that is great. People also tend to forget the Olympics and the IOC ARE coming to esports in some form, being ready to represent for that, to me, is far more important than the ENC event.

USA Esports will serve as a National Team Partner for the @ENC_EN. 🇺🇸

I’ve brought this same point up on your posts before Mark. How come no one addresses the fact that employers are incentivized through the tax system to insure employees. Is it because employees will realize that at the end of the day they are the only ones really footing the cost for health insurance? If employers can lower their eoy tax burden by fully deducting the expense of health benefits. Who’s the one benefiting?

@mcuban Healthcare costs are fully deductible by employers for both premiums and deductibles, and some small business depending on size received tax credits. Absolutely insurance costs are untenable But business are incentivized to insure employees.

I don’t think people realize how much healthcare costs are driving big companies to fire and not hire. It costs them $30k per family, per year for premiums and care. Most of that goes to the massive, vertically integrated insurance companies that send weekly bills that no one reviews in details. And it doesn’t include the company overhead to deal with it all. It’s usually the 2nd largest expense after payroll. Which is insane It’s far easier to blame AI than it is to blame Healthcare costs. Want to increase jobs, wages and improve affordability for every American ? Break up the biggest insurance companies. Make divest non insurance companies. They don’t need thousands of subsidiaries. That’s how they game and abuse the system and increase costs for all of us. Call your senator and tell them to support the BreakUp Big Medicine Bill by @HawleyMO and @SenWarren.

@SirScoots I for one am excited, I’ve truly believed in what a national body can deliver from the players development standpoint. And if we can starting seeing LTAD models delivered for esports like real sports, I think there is a bright future ahead.

Like it or not, the ENC and Olympic esports projects have helped awaken the endemic esport folks of their countries to care about the idea of National orgs. In the past, we looked and laughed and wondered what the tourists in suits were up to with their national federations. Eggs will be broken, but I think the right people are now at least trying to cook in some of these countries.

What is clear is the person who allowed the "USA Esport" trademark to fail twice shouldn't be in charge of anything related to youth esports, USA esports, or anything related to esports. Not because they failed to renew their trademark, but because they are delusional.

@CoachPalmEsport The official post after the deleted threat was basically, "we offered to partner with them, and/or merge with them and they said no". And then said they didn't have enough business acumin because they worked in collegiate. 🫩 Nothing about what's best for students...curious.

The only reason there is any hate around this is the "experts", "consultants", and "esport professionals" who were trying to do the same thing, but for their own profit. Look at everything done in the past, and you'll find a bunch of unsustainable business models, relying on fake market forecasts and hype, so they could make a buck and run. @USAEsportsOrg is about building an ecosystem like @UShockey built. A sustainable system that builds the sport from the grassroots up, finds the best talent in the sport, and prepares them to represent the US on an international stage. No mention of views, merchandise sales, or sponsorships. But instead, forward-thinking partnerships, academic support, and backing by some of the best academic institutions across the US.
USA Esports@USAEsportsOrg

We are proud to announce the USA Esports Alliance. This growing group of clubs and institutions share a common vision for elevating national competition and creating new opportunities for players across the country.
