Henry Jeffreys is working on a new book
Slippery slope in action. You let them have a Dry January, then they want a Sober October and then the whole summer. Next it'll be Coca-Cola Christmas.

@StuartEvers It was that. You are brilliant! Thank you for pulling it up from the depths of my clearly very foggy memories.

Does anyone remember a literary short story that came out a few years ago, (I think as part of a collection) that took the form of a quiz but the quiz questions started to tell a story?

I have £20 @bookshop_org_UK credit to use up by 20 December. I have forgotten the name of every book I want to buy. What should I spend my money on? (I don’t read sci fi and horror).

Delighted to get my first Brexit benefit! EE just told me that soon I'll be able to use calls, texts and data in the EU from just £2.47 per day! It's great, because that's a full £2.47 a day more than they were obligated to charge under EU legislation. Win.

@maxjliu I struggle to see the writer of The Wind Up Bird in much of his later work, and your review of this latest is very welcome as it means I don't need to read it. Thanks for saving me the cash.

This is the first year in ages I've read all the Booker Shortlist. I loved three, enjoyed two and was entertained but not massively enthused by one. Hoping for Orbital or Held as the winner.

@StuartEvers The fictional biography that came out a few years ago. I quite enjoyed it. He lived an interesting life in interesting times

In my continuing descent into the Thomas Mann hole, I watched Death in Venice last night. It's a superb performance by Dirk Bogarde, but my god, an entire hour of a man's furtive glances at a young boy is more than I could take.
