two key features I designed off of when building our chicken coop: 1. elevated / raised-floor design (prevents ground contact, deters digging predators/rodents, improves drainage, and makes the whole structure last decades longer) 2. wide, full-height human access door positioned at perfect wheelbarrow height so you can simply rake or shovel straight out into the bin without lifting or carrying anything

🚨 BREAKING. Sunwell has only 10 spots remaining for 2026. As a small business, everyday is a battle against the big corporations and big companies with deep pockets. They fight dirty and with the backing of politicians they help fund make rich through insider information. The solar industry has a very ugly side and I’m doing my small part to stand on integrity and hold my customers best interest as the top priority. It is an honor to announce that we are nearly booked through 2026 and without a single TPO gimmick sale. Third Party Owned is what ALL the big guys and most every other solar company is pushing right now. It’s what they were offered as a “bail out” by the government and it’s keeping them alive, at least a while longer. They have stained this industry with crappy workmanship and false promises for over a decade and now they continue to beat down our communities with this nonsense of “you don’t own your system but it’s fine because you’ll get the tax credit.” Guess what MF’s, if you stop taking your huge commissions for the cheeseball that spends his day in an air conditioned office and at the golf course snuggling up to clients, then you can actually sell an affordable fully owned system at the same price as the gimmicky TPO your offering and currently spending thousands on marketing. Sunwell is proof. Homeowners. Do your research. Do not be fooled by the crap they are dangling in front of you. Did you know the tax credit is actually up to 50%. You will never see that because part of the scam is that they take their cut right off the top. They only pass a portion of the available credit to you. It’s how the game works. Did you know that with a TPO system or PPA (power purchase agreement) you will get 2 electric bills each month. One from the utility AND one from the third party. It’s meant to be confusing. It’s meant to be complicated. And it’s meant to feed the banks and big corporations. Do yourself a favor. Find a small local Solar Contractor and ask them to offer you their best cash price for a fully customer owned system. As for us, we’re not f ing leaving!

Update. Applications for SDSEP city portion has now closed as all available funding has been reserved. However, the County still has funding available. If you live in unincorporated areas of San Diego you may be eligible to apply.

Phase 2 for San Diego Solar Equity Program opens today. Homeowners can receive an incentive that fully covers the cost of a new rooftop solar system. Funding for #SDSEP came from SDGE who agreed to pay for $1M of local solar installations every year for 10 years. This means that approximately 30 homes each year will receive this incentive. Applications must be submitted by an approved Contractor.

We must resist. It’s the only way. We must support family businesses. We must stop feeding the beast. Start small. Change small habits. I started with coffee, my daily ritual. I used to buy my coffee from big box stores or even hit up the drive thru. A few years ago, I discovered a small family owned coffee roaster who source the best beans from small farms. Their coffee was the best I had tasted in forever. I ordered a few bags and I was hooked. Every day since my mornings feel more sacred. Peace, quiet and a warm cup that holds simple joy and gratitude because it comes from a family building a business based on values and integrity and quality. And when you are busy building your own business with those same foundations you easily appreciate the love and hard work that went into that little cup you’re holding. I have vowed to never go back to my old ways with my daily pleasure. Start small and you will notice the ripple effects.

If you live in the San Diego area you may qualify for 100% solar incentive. Not a lease. Not a loan. Not a TPO (third party owned). Your solar should be yours, not a banks. New policy and politics do not need to have ownership over your property. Choose decentralization. Own your solar power outright. No middleman. No hallow man. No one to answer to but you. #sunwellsolar #sdsep #solarintegrity #SolarEnergy

The Hollow Men American capitalism is rotting from the head down. We have replaced the "Owner-Operator"—the risk-taker-with a new, parasitic class of corporate bureaucrat: The Risk-Free Insider. By "Insider," I am not referring to a specific title. I am referring to the entire administrative state that has captured the modern corporation. This includes the Directors who exist solely to collect fees, the Executives who exist solely to collect bonuses, and the Managers who exist solely to hire consultants. These are the hollow men of the boardroom. They are masters of PowerPoint. They wear the right suits. They say the right buzzwords about "governance" and "ESG." But they are mercenaries fighting a war with someone else’s ammunition. In a functioning economy, authority is tied to liability. If you make a bad decision, you lose your own money. That fear of loss is the only thing that keeps a business honest. It forces you to cut waste, obsess over the customer, and stay late to fix what is broken. Today, we have severed that link. We have rigged the game so that heads, the Insider wins; tails, the shareholder loses. If the stock goes up, the Insider collects a massive performance bonus. If the stock crashes due to their own incompetence, they are fired with a "Golden Parachute" worth tens of millions. They are gambling with the house’s money, and they never leave the table poorer than they arrived. This looting starts in the boardroom. We have normalized a "Country Club" culture where directors are selected based on social profiling rather than their ability to build a business. The modern board member is often a professional tourist—paid an average of $350,000 a year. Let’s be brutally honest about what that number represents. The average director is paid nearly five times the GDP per capita of the United States. They earn more for attending four quarterly lunches than the vast majority of Americans earn in five years of hard labor. And for what? Most of these directors are "over-boarded," sitting on three or four boards simultaneously. They treat directorships as a gig economy for the elite. They fly in, rubber-stamp a compensation package they didn't read, and fly out. They collect checks from companies they do not understand, do not use, and certainly do not love. They are not there to ask hard questions. They are there to be collegial. They are there to protect the other Insiders. And what happens when these boards hire executives who also have no personal capital at risk? We get the Delegation Economy. When a Risk-Free Insider faces a crisis—bloated expenses, a broken supply chain, or a stale product—they do not roll up their sleeves. They hire a consultant. They pay a strategy firm millions of shareholder dollars to produce a 100-page deck telling them what they already know. This is not management. It is intellectual money laundering. They use shareholder capital to buy an insurance policy for their own careers. If the plan fails, they can blame the consultants. They delegate the work because they are terrified of the responsibility. They would rather preside over a slow, comfortable decline than risk a bold mistake. While American Insiders are busy optimizing their severance packages, our global competitors are optimizing their products. They are not slowed down by bureaucracy. They are not waiting for a slide deck. They are outworking us. If we continue to fill our C-suites with administrators instead of operators, we will lose our edge. We will see iconic American franchises hollowed out by fees, managed for the benefit of the Insiders, while the true owners—the shareholders—are left holding the bag. The time for polite governance is over. If we want to save the American economy from mediocrity, we must demand a return to the "Owner’s Mentality." We need leaders who treat shareholder capital with the same reverence they treat their own savings. The era of the Risk-Free Insider must end.

As a small company we have to choose what gets prioritized and our customers and workmanship is always at the top of that list. It can be hard to find the time for the little things like putting together the About Us page for the website. Well I’m happy to report that I finally completed the one page on our site that actually feels the most accurate to our character. The others just come across like all other companies; we are the best, we do great solar, trust us, blah blah blah. I wanted the About Us to have personality and tell our story in a way that is relatable and feels authentic. Let me know what you think. Does this page come across as a genuine look into who we are at Sunwell? Constructive criticism welcome. sunwellsolar.com/about-us/

True. Once the solar energy generation to robot manufacturing to chip fabrication to AI loop is closed, conventional currency will just get in the way. Just wattage and tonnage will matter, not dollars.
