Officer Campbell has been named Officer of the Month on several occasions and is a three-time recipient of the Officer of the Year Award, most recently in 2024. In 2012, the Dade Chiefs Association named her Officer of the Month for her role in capturing a bank robbery suspect.🚓

During her time with the Town, she served the community with dedication, professionalism and care. She will be deeply missed by her colleagues and all who had the privilege of working alongside her. In honor of her service, all Town flags will be flown at half-staff.

In Memoriam, Maria Sierra. It is with deep sadness that the Town of Surfside shares the passing of Maria Sierra, Police Dispatcher. Maria joined the Town of Surfside Police Department as a communications operator (dispatcher) on April 22, 2024.

After reaching shore disoriented, the child wandered away and became lost. Through their quick thinking and coordinated efforts, the officers were able to locate the child and safely reunite him with his family.

The Surfside Police Department and Town Commission recognized three officers for their quick action and teamwork. They demonstrated outstanding work when they successfully located a missing autistic child who had been separated from his family after ocean tides drifted him away
