On Monday, Pope Leo XIV just called for the permanent abolition of aerial bombing — a first for any pope. “Airplanes should always be vehicles of peace, never war. No one should have to fear that threats of death and destruction might come from the sky.” The demand came as Trump’s war against Iran entered week four. thelettersfromleo.com/p/pope-leo-xiv…

To commemorate my father’s 95th birthday, I want to remind Spock fans that dad’s parents were Ukrainian immigrants which shaped my father in many ways. Four years of Putin’s war has brought death and destruction to our people, our homeland. LLAP. #standwithukraine #ukraine

@Doug_Lemov For me, it was "Tristram Shandy" that was the book like no other. Post-modern before postmodernism was even thought of.

This book is difficult! Even for a serious(ish) & motivated adult reader. But brilliant. When you persist, endure & struggle to make sense of it, it is uniquely wise & beautiful. An irreplaceable gem. Sure even 25 years ago, it’s readers were few in number—students & their teachers mostly—but I don’t think we’ve really reckoned with what it means that soon enough no one will be assigned it and no one will read it. A curtain will go down. Books that have stood the test of time will not survive what @j_amesmarriott calls “post literate culture.” I keep thinking: how soon til there is no one left to read it? It will be an immense loss.

'The Icknield Way.' (1911) The originality of this work represents Spencer Gore's response to European Post Impressionism in several shows staged in London, in particular Manet and the Post Impressionists and the Italian Futurist Painters in the same year this was made.

Celebrating the birthday today of William Morris whose home Kelmscott Manor near Lechlade was his 'Heaven on Earth'. He loved St John the Baptist church, Inglesham. Both Manor and church are on #ThamesPath National Trail. @TheCCT

We haven’t been posting about this… but shoplifting is something we’re dealing with every other day. This is our Brixton store. We’re a small business trying to build something honest — and this is what we’re up against. It affects our team, our store, and our ability to keep going. We just ask for respect. #shoplifting #brixton #theblackfarmer #protectourpeople

If you get a chance, go to see the brilliant 'Stanley Spencer in Suffolk,' exhibition at Gainsborough House in Sudbury, the show finishes 29th March. This is 'Southwold,' (1937) a favourite resort of Spencer's first wife Hilda Carline.

Celebrating the birthday of William Morris, born on this day in 1834. He played a central role in the Arts and Crafts Movement, championing the value of handmade craftsmanship at a time when the Victorian era was defined by industrial progress.

“As the nectary of the bee changes flower-dust to honey, or like the liquid that transmutes lead to gold, so the poet with his breath lightens, inflates, and colours words.” - Joseph Joubert (1754-1824) #WorldPoetryDay

🚨 ALERT: Hunger in the UK isn’t a food problem - it’s an income problem. When incomes don’t cover essentials, food banks become lifelines. BUT no one should have to rely on them to survive.
