@souleaterwill I think a good middle-ground is not to make your life harder by not enjoying what you like, but to set limits : for example, not giving them your money and also to be verbally against Gen AI (which people do.. too much even) Just my opinion

I think this sparks a broader, VERY hard to have conversation Let me start by saying, I’m not advocating or justifying AI usage WHATSOEVER, I hate seeing creative works get compromised from generative slop. Especially as a creative myself. But let’s also do a reality check… Not just gacha games, but game development in general is riddled with AI. Some of it is visible and some of it is non visible. Realistically, the only place you’ll probably find 0 AI usage is indie developed games. This is a trend that is likely not going to slow down. The tech industry (game dev included) is hard pushing AI and it is a nearly unstoppable force. Executives and CEOs are adding it to their company visions. Out-to-market speed and “productivity boost” makes AI an irresistible tool that AA-AAA game developers are not going to ignore, it would provide no benefit to them and will put them at a competitive disadvantage. Artistic integrity dies in capitalism and at the end of the day, these companies are creating games to make money. Within these next 5 years, we’re going to see hints of -generative- AI in all types of games, ESPECIALLY live service games and gacha games. I am almost 100% certain on that. So… where do we draw the line as consumers? If a game is well crafted and years of love is poured into it but certain aspects of the development process cut corners using AI… do we boycott or stop playing the entire game and disregard all the other aspects that went into it? Big example: Expedition 33 and the leakage of AI asset art, but you can’t deny the amount of love and care that went into the music, the acting, the world/story… So, what is our threshold for generative AI in games? Do we cherry pick and overlook or is it no tolerance? Creatives obviously are going to have a lower threshold but gamers as a whole… probably don’t care as much, as has been seen from player numbers and overall AI engagement What do you guys think?

Current opinions: Codex-5.3 - Best for coding. Best for sysadmin. Gemini-3.1 - Best for brainstorming. Best for moonshot ideas. Opus-4.6 - Best daily driver. All can do everything “well”. But they excel at different tasks.

@Nintendeal I like the form factor of the Switch 2. Switch 1 always felt too small in my hands and I never really enjoyed the experience sadly. For a truly portable handheld though, it's the Ayn Thor / DS form factor which wins 100%

Why are some Minecraft players so angry about Java finally getting a performance overhaul and Vulkan support? Vulkan is a major net positive for the game as a whole and you won't need to have Sodium + 5 other performance mods installed by default anymore
