Regarding the use of simulators in Final Fantasy XIV, and why we believe they are detrimental to the game

iTrolledU@RSiTrolledU
My take on the current hot topic of simming: I don't care what people do on their own time to complete an ultimate. I do think it cheapens the prog experience a bit, but if they just want to minimize time spent getting the reward then go for it. Literally doesn't affect me.
English

UMAD CLEARED!!! Thank you team for the positive and fun vibes throughout the prog! What a fight! What a fight! Thank you to everyone who been watching and supporting!
絶妖星乱舞クリアしました!!
最後まで雰囲気良くて、前向きに頑張れたPTのみんなに感謝!本当に最高の戦いだった!
応援してくれたみんなもありがとう!!

@KantJoseph52803 Hey ! We do believe it's important especially in Ultimate because of how structured these fights are. They are essentially a gauntlet.
Hope it helps !

@SynergyXIV Many choices determine the difficulty of a raid—playing in a static vs PF, progging blind vs with guides vs with sims, etc. Why do you believe this particular challenge (reaching a mechanic to practice it) is fundamental but others (eg, solving mechanics blind) are not?

@ElysOrphan @nixexiv Static, we're a regroupement of static, some HC some casual and everything in between.
English

@SynergyXIV @nixexiv Are you saying this from a static pov or pf? Because they clearly mentioned pf and pf isn't as consistent compared to a static made up by people based on whatever you pref to have. Experienced or inexperienced. You can chose, you can't in pf.
English

@SynergyXIV You do realize DPS checks are a thing in an ultimate and a sim covers that to an extent of 0%. You can be the most mechanically consistent player in the world but if you can't do DPS and do mechanics at the same time then what? Sims help out in 1 department, not every.
English

@nixexiv @anxious__twink We do, we have a roster who focus on people who have never clear a ultimate and try to achieve their first kill.
We are all for newcomers to try it out.
We just think some tools have some bad side effect.
English

@anxious__twink @SynergyXIV This isn't a good mindset to have, idk why we are trying to gatekeep learning tools from people who want to try to clear something difficult. Accessibility is a positive thing & we should be inviting more people to take on high-end content.
English

@FalconsQuill Dont care that tou have done UMAD or no the opinion is still valid.
You're right in saying that a line need to be drawn. We chose to draw it before the sims. That's our decision.
We think it's worth discussing it publicly.
English

"It allows players to practice mechanics they have not reached at all"
So where do we draw the line? Can statics not practice future mechanics in the overworld with waymarks because they haven't died to it yet? No more looking ahead at what comes next until you've seen it?

@Vyskara @punishedthew Obs our statement doesnt include every individual situation there is in the entire world.
It's a general stance, made to discuss what has become an important part of the progress for many people.
English

@SynergyXIV @punishedthew What about individuals with learning disabilities that won’t be able to learn the difficult mechanics (that sims are usually made for) via dying to them over and over, that use them to avoid progging a single mechanic for 9+ months due to information retainment issues.
English

@DrForester 3 of our 4 rosters are actually midcore.
Dont really see the point you're making.
English

@SynergyXIV "This statement prepared by our 9th man, proof read by our 10th man, and then final edited by our 11th man who was doing callouts. The 12th man who solved strats for us got to press the "post" button"
English

@alexbrault @punishedthew Maybe it was poorly formulated :
"We" refer to the players of SynergyXIV (let's say about 40).
Not a universal though spread among the community.
English

@SynergyXIV @punishedthew That's not attacking the messenger at all. The message says "We believe that..."
Highlighting that this belief is not universal counters the message
English

@Vyskara @punishedthew We are a group of 40 people who chose to not rely on AM/Sims kind of things.
We regrouped ourselves for this very reason,, so yeah a few dozens players think that way.
Not much but still worth saying.
English

@SynergyXIV @punishedthew It is because it implies you’re speaking for others.
English

@punishedthew Is that important in any way ? Let's discuss the message rather than the messenger.
English

@dontpingme Isnt Being "in hell for months" the point of Ultimate ?
For most of us, clearing an ultimate is really hard, and takes a long time.
English

It's that time FFXIV players have this argument. Sims are overall good. Great learning tool for player using the sim and it keeps others from being stuck in hell for months on end. If it bothers you, then stick with a static that agrees to not use them. 🙄

@LilyLovelace_ff 3 of our 4 rosters are midcore.
Dont really see the point here.
English

@SynergyXIV World racers just won't ever get it...
Normal players are playing a different game than yall.
English

@ArborusVitae Yeah i get what you're saying.
Still thinks practice P4 without the need to pass Forsaken or P3 each time, is a bizarre thing.
English

@SynergyXIV To some extent, yeah. There are definitely some mechanics where once you "get" them you're probably not going to mess them up again. The process to understanding might take a bit, but once you're there consistency is almost guaranteed, if that makes sense.
English

@meows4heals Can agree with that. It's not the entire thing. Still a part important we believe.
English

@SynergyXIV rarely, especially in party finder, do they fully substitute actual practice, even for this ultimate! healers and tanks need to know cooldowns, all the dps need to know their burst and pot timings. all the sim does is break down the mental headspace they need prior, in my opinion
English

@meows4heals Yeah, i'll have trouble explaining my inner thought on the process but :
It seems to me that being in an arena and placing yourself is really different from mental visualisation.
English

@SynergyXIV yeah i get what you generally mean by sim, like it tries to fully mimic the in game experience, but i suppose it's interesting bc in some ways all sims are just slight time shortcuts to vod review and studying actual cooldown usage and instead just show order of operations
English

@RatsRatsRat69 Again, nowhere in that post it is said that killing using a sim is not a clear.
We do feel however it suppress a feature of these fights.
English

@SynergyXIV Sure, but also expect for people to say you're being pretentious gatekeeping snob about a boss battle in a video game.
This is so much "You didn't REALLY beat Dark Souls if you played co-op" or "You didn't play the game if you played on easy mode" type beat.
Childish at best.
English

@RatsRatsRat69 We didn't criticize anyone in particular, just wanna share a stance about a game we love.
Seems the appropriate place to do so.
English

@SynergyXIV Glad that this means so much to you. But keep that to yourself. Don't gatekeep shit and criticize others about how they approach content when at the end of the day it's about killing a clown in an anime game. Like it's not that serious, and ultimate isnt something sacred.
