@broskiFGC It’s part of my problem with modern patch culture. Devs want to give every character something new to mess with to keep people playing them happy, even if the character is overtuned. Patches are intended to keep people playing instead of, y’know, balancing the game. lol

@Photoshop_Gy It was pretty widely known that the RE2 and 3 remakes were originally meant to be released as one package, but the RE2 Remake turned into a larger project, so they decided to add some more to it and release it by itself. They neglected to build out RE3 the same way, sadly.

Other genres have it to communicate with teammates. You have no teammates in fighting games, so it'd only be there to shout slurs at your opponent. Why deal with moderating voice chat if you don't have to?

@BadFilmTakes1 Main reason people defend it is that they have fond memories of playing it co-op with friends I think. But yeah, the campaign is a mess, and a big step down from RE4. It's got some fun, dumb moments, and it feels enough like RE4 to be enjoyable moment to moment, but it's a mess.

I don’t understand why gamers defend Resident Evil 5, because in addition to being racist, it’s just a poorly designed video game. It was Capcom trying really hard to do post-colonial Call of Duty storytelling with the most on-rails game design imaginable. It’s aged like milk.

Amazon is holding a mandatory meeting about AI breaking its systems. The official framing is "part of normal business." The briefing note describes a trend of incidents with "high blast radius" caused by "Gen-AI assisted changes" for which "best practices and safeguards are not yet fully established." Translation to human language: we gave AI to engineers and things keep breaking? The response for now? Junior and mid-level engineers can no longer push AI-assisted code without a senior signing off. AWS spent 13 hours recovering after its own AI coding tool, asked to make some changes, decided instead to delete and recreate the environment (the software equivalent of fixing a leaky tap by knocking down the wall). Amazon called that an "extremely limited event" (the affected tool served customers in mainland China).

@horrorvisuals I love both, but the original just feels so snappy and satisfying in a way that nothing else has fully replicated for me. You shoot a guy and he reacts instantly and clearly. The animation blending in the remake means everything feels just a little bit muddier.

I prefer the original. Remake is great, but it plays and looks like everything else these days. The original however, has a unique identity that's quite not like anything else.
It's slower and has a nice blend of tank + modern controls. I think it's just better.

@GantSentinel @blacknredtext The RE1 remake came out in 2002. The term “AAA” didn’t even exist back then. The point still stands, it’s an incredible achievement that the remake still holds up as well as it does.

I own a lot of Jethro Tull. I own all of Led Zeppelin. I own a lot of Yes. But I only have a "best of" remaster for The Beatles' top-most hits. For a reason. In their moment, they were the greatest Boy Band hit machine anyone had ever seen. But they also suffered colossal audience capture as a result. And it cost them. By 1969 the stress of grinding out catchy Top 40 had doomed the project. They were neither the best musicians, nor the best song-writers. Merely, the best "product" for a radio era which demanded it of them.

@Bri4nF Guys like Pokchop are the reason I started watching fighting game tournaments. They make it so much fun to watch, even if you know nothing about the game. That kind of passion is a super important part of the scene that sorta seems to be disappearing, sadly.

Playing vs. Pokchop offline is an initiation ritual for members of the fgc. Pokchop is one of the nicest people in the scene, approaches the entire ordeal with a kayfabe type character, and will chop it up with you humbly afterwords. Win or lose you're left with a fun memory.

Does literally anybody else do that shit while playing professionally? It's funny for a moment but it's also lowkey disrespectful to the person you're going up against. Nothing about this game warrants all that. Imagine Knee or Arslan doing that. I know I'm gonna get roasted for this take because he's been doing that for years but every time I see that I'm like damn not cool.
