I saw these billboards and had to pause—not because they were clever… but because they felt awkward. Sure, attention is the game. But not all attention is created equal. Here’s why this kind of billboard leaves you with a weird aftertaste: •It uses a double entendre (“sleep with…”) that feels more like Tinder (Free Version Tinder esp) than premium furniture. •Sexualized, with no clear link to the value or USP of the product. There’s literally no clear link between the headline and the value of the product—comfort, durability, elegance, nothing. •It tries to be provocative, but instead comes off lazy and tone-deaf, especially in a public space. The biggest miss for me? You remember the name “Whitney” more than you remember the brand. And if your product becomes the punchline of your ad, the message is lost. Now imagine instead: “Fall Asleep with Whitney” “Meet Nick – The King of Comfort” “Where Dreams Begin: Terry Collection” “Whitney: The Bed That Loves You Back” Same names. But now? It’s smart. Emotional. Classy. Provocative should never cost you brand trust. It’s not just about being seen. It’s about being remembered for the right reasons.
