Amarone really has a way of saying "sit down, and shut up" doesn't it?

@RobbiePriddle It had peripheral flavouring. Lacking in the mid palate but burned orange, leather, black toffee, tobacco edges. Lively acidity, which supported really well. Youthful colour, surprisingly. An experience. I felt privileged to try that. Thanks to @SolicitingFlava

Wonderful time today at the tiny, urban, family winery Adega in Belém. Beautifully crafted, lean, well-judged wines from the Lisboa/Setúbal areas. Very hospitable too, considering I gatecrashed a filmed tasting they had booked 🫣

It’s been an exhausting six years for everybody.😤

Not had a viognier this old before. Malvasia orange blossom element on the nose. Acidity is still on point, which is no mean feat with this grape. Fennel and green herbs palate. Fresh and elegant. Great producer 👏
