Just rewatched the game, Duff adapted tactically to the red really well for me, 4-3-2 mid block with the outside 8’s responsible for pressing their ball side full back should they receive. I personally wouldn’t have taken off Vidigal and Lowe, the former because he’s a superb finisher from different angles and we needed to be clinical for the few chances we had, the latter because Lowe is a target man to hit over the Orient press and makes it stick better than Woodrow does so for me he would have been a better outlet.
We maintained wide triangles on the ball side when in the final 3rd and attacked the box with numbers despite being a man down. We were compact and shifted side to side really well off the ball and we were coordinated in our block just individual mistakes and errors which let us down (the first goal).
Even if promotion isn’t for us this season I can assure you with a positive window in the summer we’re in safe hands with Duff and his team. He’s shown some top tactical signs and is learning more about the team every week. He (hopefully) has stopped changing to a back 5 when winning away as we didn’t see that against Cardiff but did against Bolton and we all know how that ended….The mentality hopefully will now take a positive change away from home after beating Cardiff and not conceding in the last minute as per.
We can’t forget he’s a human being 😅, yes he’s very good at his job but he’s going to make mistakes and with every mistake comes more knowledge he gathers of his team. If you read my posts regularly you’ll know I have full belief in this manager and that doesn’t change even if finish outside the playoffs. I’ll back him until/if he ever gives me a reason not to IE moving away from his philosophy or completely changing tactics. If we can fix the mentality problems on the road, players stop making very avoidable individual errors and if we stop changing to a back 5 for the last 20 minutes of away games which are tight and down to fine margins then I see us as one of the best teams in this league. Tactically the foundations are there and we’ve already seen improved attacking dynamics compared to when he first entered the club.
Trust the gaffer. 💙🦢

@wwfcofficial New and interesting ways to shoot ourselves in the foot this week.
English

@wwfcofficial Our ability to shoot ourselves in the foot is something special this season. Must be maddening for a coach.
English

@wwfcofficial The question is how bad is MVS if Norris remains the best keeper we have? A recruitment disaster or a blind spot from the manager ?
English

@wwfcofficial With VAR that gets scrutinised for 5 minutes and you may get away with it. At full speed that’s a red all day long.
English

@TheQuartermen You can only say that the coaches have worked with the 3 keepers since the summer and they believe he’s the best. Norris can’t be the future. Whether MVS is who knows.
English

✍️ Will Norris was once again subject to criticism following Wycombe’s 2-1 loss to Luton Town.
⬇️ Is it time for Mikki van Sas to be given the nod in between the sticks?

@richyhardy No foul there. All ‘keepers have become used to getting a decision every time they are touched in these scenarios. Our keeper was weak and hoped the ref would bail him out.
English

Wycombe manager crying on 3CR after the game saying this was a foul on the keeper??? No chance
Luton Town FC@LutonTown
Nice nod in there, skipper 🫡
English

@wwfcofficial You can’t moan about tempo and have a goalkeeper and two central defenders who I assume have been instructed to play out from the back. A scenario that gifts possession to the opposition every time. They are not got enough to do it, don’t tell them to.
English

@wwfcofficial Absolutely helpless with Norris in goal. Every cross we look likely to concede. Luton did their homework
English

@danohagan Do you not find this kind of tweet performative and just trying to make you look virtuous?
English

@OldManWinter999 We are led to believe these players can’t play 90 minutes twice in a week. This being the case teams know we will capitulate when the subs come on. Every sub made us worse yesterday.
English

Wycombe taking off Morley changed the game. Why these stupid managers are obsessed with taking their best players off will always be a mystery to me. #bwfc
English

@sam_avery1 As soon as we saw Casey was finished we all knew which way the game was going to end. That’s a terrible indictment of one of ou record signings.

I shouldn’t even be having to tweet this but I’ve seen a few people saying they’re losing faith in the gaffer…(very reactionary) I personally am absolutely not losing faith with Duff, for me he’s the right man for the job and showed clear signs of great tactical displays like today for 70 mins and in multiple previous games. Attacking dynamics have also improved massively since the start of the season especially up back through patterns in wide areas and 3rd man runs in both central and wide areas. Combination play has been a lot better since the start of his tenure too.
Off the ball we’re compact when in a back 4 and get equal pressure on the ball in our 4-4-2 mid block which can transition into man to man easily higher up the pitch. Players have a clear understanding of their roles.
Press from goal kicks has also been positive with the team finally nailing down the coordination of his diamond press (1 man split between the opposition’s 6’s), along with also being great when we press man to man from goal kicks.
We also seem to have finally put an end the lack of duelling and lack of physicality in the middle of the pitch with us being much more aggressive and stronger in ground duels and 2nd balls in recent weeks and that includes the 1st half today.
He’s a top manager and has restored balance and more to the side following the Dodds spell.
Got full faith in the gaffer. 🦢🔵
English

Winning away, change to a back 5 and concede.
Ring any bells? 😐
Woodrow was absolutely knackered and shouldn’t have stayed on, lacked an outlet after Lowe went off. Combine being in a back 5, no outlet, and a ‘Striker’ being absolutely knackered meaning he can’t press AND the fact it’s Bolton away (fans would get behind them and be extremely loud if they did get 1 back) and it’s bound to go wrong.
1st half was brilliant
2nd half was brilliant up until about 70 minutes, feel we made some really poor in game tactical changes and subs today.

@Hayden_WycWan23 @wwfcofficial I’d wager that infant giraffe is more aware of attacking threats than ours.
