@sluggernation I think it’s time to start to ask questions about the Atlas bat. My son’s broke last year, another players broke, and then I see this yesterday at a game.

@MSmithDetroit I think the JV ‘7 inning’ run was pretty spectacular, and what felt like an entire year of NH into the 5th….Against better batting teams, lower K% teams.

Random 40-man player note #37: Tarik Skubal I was part of the group that drafted Justin Verlander and I got to watch him through the peak of his career until I left in 2015. I also grew up a Red Sox fan and used to schedule my week around catching Pedro Martinez's starts in 1999 when he was at the peak of his powers. And I can honestly say that watching Tarik Skubal the last two years is better than any stretch I saw from Verlander. The only comparable I have is peak 1999 Pedro, when he put up one of the most dominant pitching seasons of all time.

This one change made him go from 87 to 92 miles an hour. He was stuck at 87 for two months. Then we changed one thing and he broke into the low nineties. His lower half was solid. His stride was dialed in. His pelvis rotation was clean. But he couldn’t break 87. The problem was his upper body couldn’t accept what his lower body was doing. His spine was firing way too early and trying to drive the whole throw. Here was the fix. We gave him a two pound medicine ball. It sounds simple, but here’s what happens. When you hold that ball out in front, it forces your core to stay back. That allowed his upper body to time up better with his lower half. If you want the full guide on how we trained him to break into the low nineties, comment guide and I’ll send it through.

@TigersJUK @KwanDislike Sounds like you might be too big of a fan boy, friend. McGonigle will have a much more amazing career. Clark is a great self marketer and he might be solid, in the end, but he isn’t exactly playing ball to a level that warrants undying fan loyalty. Not yet.

@KwanDislike Apparently the sucks because he only hit .270 in AA (ignoring the .400+ OBP & more hits than K’s & a near 20% walk rate but sure)

The Max Clark debates on here led by Jeff Frye and the other former legendary hitters who all slugged .340 & refused to walk are insufferable. Their whole life around the sport and they have absolutely zero clue what constitutes a good hitter. It’s unbelievable.

Most infield errors happen before the ball is hit. College infielders know that. Runner on first. Less than two outs. What are you thinking before the pitch? Most players think: “Make the play.” Smarter players think: • Where’s my throw if it’s hit hard? • Where’s my throw if it’s slow? • Do I need one or two? • What can’t happen this inning? College defenders decide before contact. High school defenders decide after it. That’s the gap. If you’re reacting to the ball, you’re late. If you’re anticipating the situation, you’re ahead. High school rewards athleticism. College rewards awareness. That’s Baseball IQ. Built at 15. Proven at 20. Routine Over Flash. #3LeftsBaseball #BaseballIQ
