@LysanderTime Id also say getting the right color in the right location is also pretty important relative color is a wonderful optical illusion to turn your painting into off color mud pretty quickly. Like I’ve “painted myself into a corner” on some places but it’s still worked out

@LysanderTime lol I have my moments , tbh I think a lot of it is just breaking it down into manageable steps and constantly making intermediary references for yourself.

@Alex_Ardilla5 Like I’m literally out here using the back of a cereal box as my go to for practice. Sure it will warp alittle bit but that’s what my old thermodynamics textbook is for

@Alex_Ardilla5 I’d also say stay consistent with your painting surface since how the paint “glides” or not on the surface is going to effect how much you are loading your brush and mixing . IMHO the best is card board with a layer of any acrylic medium to make a barrier between oil and paper

@Alex_Ardilla5 I don’t think I have the authority to give tips but the more you can simplify and break up your process the better . Like for this painting I made some maquettes and studies behind the scene so I know what I’m doing when the expensive canvas comes around.

This was suppose to be some easy wins but I’m not gonna have the right brush size for some of this blocks— we’ll see what happens

It has just dawned on me how truly powerful the fig leaf is — the greatest spice to add ,for all ,for the spiciest of art

@Alex_Ardilla5 It’s oil paint on canvas! I stick with a Zorn palette for easy color mixing but I also mix my black with some ultra marine blue to stretch out the hues and lower its tinting strength . So solvents, no thinners , no added mediums . And 90% of the strokes are just a 12 flat brush
