We're honored to be developing open source tools as part of the Technology Tools part of this 10M round of grants. Our Aselo project is planning to work on practical applications of AI for helplines spanning North America, the Caribbean and Africa.

Q9: What immediate and long-term impacts do you hope your project will achieve in the fight against online #CSEA? #SafeOnline

@SafeOnlineFund A8. Pt 2. The child helplines pool their aggregate data and share it with @CHIamsterdam for their global reports. And some helpline partners allow us to use de-identified data to train AI models to improve our collective ability to respond to children's needs online. 2/2

Q8: In what ways will your project use research and data to contribute to the global understanding and prevention of online #CSEA? #SafeOnline

@SafeOnlineFund @SafeOnline A7: @SafeOnlineFund is an engaged funder that not only supports our open source development work with funding, but also connects us to a vibrant community of organizations with complementary missions, as well as policymakers in the field. Yay!

Q7: What role do you see @SafeOnline playing in your project to prevent online #CSEA? #SafeOnline

@SafeOnlineFund A6. Pt 2. We also have worked with @OpenAI to implement their zero-data-retention (ZDR) policy for our project, because of the sensitive nature of these conversations. We expect to also be looking at open source options as part of the project. Lots of exciting work ahead! 2/2

@SafeOnlineFund A6. Pt 1. We are working with a number of AI companies to support different parts of this effort supported by @SafeOnlineFund, such as scrubbing text transcripts of personally identifiable information before training AI models. 1/2

Q6: Can you highlight any innovative technology or tools your project will be utilising or developing to combat online #CSEA? #SafeOnline

@SafeOnlineFund A3. The ease of automating approaches to young people online is quite concerning, as it makes it easy for perpetrators to customize their messages to engage with young people (against their interests).

Q3: What are some of the key challenges the world is facing in tackling online child sexual exploitation and abuse (#CSEA) #SafeOnline

@SafeOnlineFund A2. The inimitable Jeroo Billimoria (founder of Childline India and CHI) convinced our founder, @JimFruchterman, to bring online capabilities to the global child helpline movement, by adding social media communications to a new platform for helplines: Aselo. #SafeOnline
